Have you ever wondered why we're really here? What is the true purpose of life? Are we here to "eat, drink, and be merry" or are we here to help others? Are we here for material gain? Are we here to be the best? Are we here to be great? Please share what you think life is all about. What does life mean to you? We all have a purpose or we wouldn't exist!

Hi JJ. I use to wonder why we're all here. I used to wonder what the true purpose of life was too. Let's see...What is life all about? Well, you are going to get as many answers as there are people. Each person has their own idea of what life is, what it's suppose to be about, and what their life means. For me,,,my life didn't have much meaning until I found my worth. When I realized my own value, and how much my life meant to other people, that's when I started realizing what (my) life was about. My belief for my own life stems from my religious convictions. My life is meant to serve God,,,plain and simple, in whatever way I am led. The only way for me to do that is "to be the best example of Him I can be". That's also going to be different for everyone. For people who have other beliefs, their life meaning will be match that of their faith or whatever it is they believe in. My life has been devoted to being the best "me" I can be. I've had to learn who I was, accept who I was, love who I was, and no matter what undertaking I perform, do the very best I could. I have devoted my life as best I could to serving God. In that, I have become the best wife I could be for my husband. In that, I have become the best person I could be, feeding one from the other. My purpose was and is, to be the best TeriLee I can be. That's all.......That's my life....in a nutshell.

My thoughts throughout the evening were bits of confusion followed by, how do I say, , , well, still more bits of confusion over the fact that so many millions of people continue to choose to deny Him. It's understandable, to a point. I don't want to offend their belief system in any way. I try my best not to pre-judge them and I respect how they believe and in many cases, respect why they believe what they do. I would never push my beliefs toward them or try to convince them to think differently. Still, it makes me wonder how they can refuse Him the way they do. With so many 'bad things' happening in this world, sometimes a direct result of the refusal of His love for them, it leaves me wondering how so many people can deny Him with such gusto, trying to replace His goodness with something else. Of course, His own denied Him too....still, it's such a mystery... It baffles me sometimes.

Hello again, TeriLee! Because you have responded with what truly is the meaning of life (because we share the same beliefs), I'm "rewarding" you (LOL) with best response once again. I love your answer because serving God is what we're (supposed to be) doing here. We serve God like we're supposed to and those we don't know Him (yet) will be reached and touched. They will know Him and they will pass it on. That's what it's all about. I can tell you're passionate about your response because you live it DAILY. Your husband is a blessed man and your family is so fortunate. The reason I posted this response was because I knew it would provoke thought. I'm pleased to see that you have found it and answered it as accurately as I've ever seen! (Of course, I never had a doubt that you would answer correctly - lol.) Keep up the good work, my friend. There are so many people out there who need to hear what you have to say. This is definitely the place for you to be because you're making a difference one myLot discussion/response at a time! Thanks again, my friend.

I've been there so many times wondering why? Why? Why? It doesn't make sense, but neither does evolution, if you think about it. Yet people still choose to believe it because they don't want to believe what He did or what He said. Our knowing the truth just isn't good enough for me. I want everyone else to know also. Of course, I'm the same way you our. God gave us free will for a reason and that reason what NOT to force others to believe the same way we do. It's about our lifestyles now more than ever. People will see the way we live and what we're all about. They'll see something they like and are drawn to. They'll want to have that "something" too. It's a beautiful thing when people finally come to the point where they ask, "Why are you so 'different'?" It's a wonderful thing.

That is a very profound, but nice meaty discussion my friend, one to get your teeth into. I think humans are an experiment, just like the dinosaurs of how we would cope living together, the dinosaurs were wiped out by an asteroid, so I guess our creator, sorry I am not religious so I will say creator got fed up with them. Maybe whoever is watching down on us is getting fed up with the human race, after all we are full of greed, full of hatred and we like wars! It's true tho' isn't it. When has this world seen true peace through the ages? I really do think that in 2012 there will be another asteroid that will wipe out human kind, the creator has got fed up with us! And who knows what kind of creature will be on the world after 2012!

I like your response, Wolfie. It's very thorough and reflects the type of person you are along with your beliefs (or lack thereof - lol) and observations. I'm not a religious person either; however, I do believe God is the Creator you refer to. You're right when you say He's fed up with us! I know He's patient because He's given mankind over 8,000 years to live on this earth (the human race in general is what I'm referring to), but the mankind is quite a piece of work! I completely agree with you when you say that we've been placed here to get along with others or at least to cope with them. We're all different, which makes the world a truly interesting place! What would it be like here if we were all the same? I think it would be incredibly boring. Thanks a million for responding to this discussion. I really liked reading your response. By the way, I heard and have been led to believe that there are still dinosaurs living on the earth in various places today. They aren't seen much, though, because most dinosaurs were actually vegitarians. They wouldn't eat people, I don't think. I know it's off the subject, but we can't exactly know for sure since there are miles and miles of undiscovered ocean beneath the surface that man has never and will never be able to explore. Of course, that's a whole different discussion...

The man who learnt the perfect meaning of life is no longer with us to tell us about it. However, I think that the life (of very individual) is a precious, having born by accident and it is a journey full of thorns and stumbling block and it is the work of the man to clear the stumbling blocks one after the other and in the process he needs food, shelter, clothing. Anything else?

I completely agree with you when you say individual lives are precious. Every day we have here on earth is a gift. We must make the most of it.

To a scientist life is an aggregate of vital Phenomena. To a priest life is for a purpose of praying of God or Creator. To a philanthropist life is for helping others, to a drunk life is a drinking glass, etc. In fact God created us to worship Him and when he created us and said His Creation " Who I am ?" creator (man) said you are you and me is me, then God gave us hunger and trouble so that we feel Him and we eat for save of life. We save life to live in this beautiful world to feel comfort, to eat food and for affection and love for family, friends and kids that God has given inside our heart. So what is life cannot be said in one way and in a short span of space..

I really appreciate your point of view on this because I never thought of it that way! The meaning of life is difference to everyone depending on who they are and what their goals are. I also like what you said about God creating needs in us so that we would seek Him. This is so true. If all of our needs were fulfilled, we wouldn't even realize He exists. He does want us to be comfortable. Thanks for your excellent response.

Your response is very interesting. I really like how you looked at the literal side of life. Life here on earth wouldn't exist without our survival. Only God gives life, but He allows us to maintain it through all of the things you mentioned. Thanks for sharing your viewpoint!
