I just signed up to write articles for Helium. Has anyone had any luck making money on their website? I seen that the article I typed paid $50. How do they determine which individual gets the pay for the article? I read through the guidelines but still am not sure.

I have been an active member of Helium for about three months now, my first month I made 15 dollars from a contest. The second month I made 80 dollars and now I have a check due for 200$. I love this site so much and although its competitive it really is fair.
You won't make a lot of money in the beginning, but as you submit more and more articles it does add up.
In the marketplace publishers usually select only one
article for the topic and they will let you know if your article is picked through an email message. It usually takes anywhere from 2 weeks to a month to hear back from them.
Even if your article is not ranked at number one for your topic you still have a chance at getting your article picked to be published. The publishers will look at most all of the articles submitted before making a decision.
As long as you pay attention to the description that the publisher wants, you have a decent chance.
If you have anymore questions you can visit the forum on the site. Everyone there is very helpful and kind!
Best of luck to you =)
