Whether it's a shopping tip or trick, a present wrapping trick, bow making, emergency presents, keeping the holiday spirit going, etc., please share. I'm sure you all have little things you do which make the holiday time a little easier or make the $$ stretch further or just tips to keep things in perspective. Here's mine, and it's really basic: Instead of throwing away those odd scraps and pieces of paper left after wrapping a present, I shred them, then use the shreddings to cushion a present which may be fragile. It makes a festive packing material and since the paper's shredded in strips, it's a pretty easy clean up after the present's unwrapped. No waste, too, since the left over scraps would've otherwise been in the trash.

What a wonderful idea! And it makes "cents" I am all for recycling. I really have no tips....but do make my dollar stretch by making my own christmas cards and favors.

Thanks, and I like your tip to and hope to make my own cards soon, talent or no. The stupid thing is that I would shred newspaper, in the shredder, for packing material, and grumble about the messiness, ink all over my hands, etc., etc. It took a little time but the idea of shredding those leftover scraps finally kicked in. Sometimes my "lightbulb over the head" moments take me awhile...
