A Question To Ponder

What Would Jesus Do For Christmas? I mean, after all it is suppose to be HIS birthday. If he were here on earth, what would he be doing? Another question. How much of what we "Christians" do would he approve of? I have to be totally honest with you. I have not celebrated Christmas for the last two years and I do not plan to celebrate it this year either. I am not a Christmas kill joy. I just felt that I needed to pull myself away from the yearly madness and consider where I, as a blood bought child of the king, fit into all this. I realized that most of the people around the world have no idea what it is they are doing. They go through the motions every year and give Jesus and his birth very little thought at all, if any. This year, I have a Jewish roommate. I told her that she might as well go ahead and celebrate Christmas, because it has nothing to do with Jesus anymore. I asked my atheist friend what she was doing. She said she is going to spend it with her family and exchange gifts and everything. Now why would a person who does not even believe in God, want to celebrate his son's birthday? Because it has nothing to do with him anymore. And truth be told, he was not even born on December the 25th. You don't believe me? Do the research, look it up. Okay, so you want to say that this is the day that we set aside to celebrate his birth. Fine, get a cake, put Happy Birthday Jesus on it and sing happy birthday to him like you do for everyone else's birthday. This is his day and every one in the free world is appreciated and given something special, but him. And while you are remembering him, remember the real reason that he came. He was born to die, for your sins and mine.

Hi Rozie! I do believe you my friend that Dec. 25 is not the real date when Jesus was born. I do admit that Christmas has been more commercialized than ever and the true meaning of Christmas has been put aside by so many. However, there are still people who respect this tradition not because all the whole world is going frenzy with the gift giving. But Christmas for me and my family is the time when everyone in our clan gather together, all my cousins and aunts who live in other countries come home just to celebrate Christmas Day with our grandmother. All of us go to midnight mass and that is 11 in the evening of Dec.24, and after mass we have our "Christmas dinner". In our family tradition, my grandmother always gather all the children together and tell once again the story of Jesus birth. My father and his siblings grew up with the story telling, me and my cousins grew up with this and so are the fourth generation in our family. Christmas is about family. It is our simple tradition and it is all about love. And I think Jesus will like that. Just my thoughts. Take care and have a nice day my friend. :)

Hi Rozie dear! Yes she is! When my mother passed away, I was always in my room and sometimes I don't eat at all, she usually comes to our house every morning, comes to my room and just embrace me..and I remember she said to me, I was just your grandmother before but now, I will be your mother and grandmother at the same time. and then she held me tight and ask me to to have breakfast with her. She did this every single day until I was able to look life again in a positive way. She is very special and I am very blessed I have her in my life. Take care and have a nice day my friend. :)

So most people that celebrate Christmas do not know Jesus or think about him during this time. So what? That should not stop you from celebrating his birth. I don't need others to proclaim Jesus before I can. If no one else in the world mentioned Jesus on Christmas, IT WOULD NEVER STOP ME FROM CELEBRATING HIS BIRTH. It's so stupid to require everyone else to do it with you before you will. Worship Jesus for youself. Not because others are doing it.

My celebrating or not has nothing to do with anyone else. I am seeking God to find out if he wants me to celebrate Christmas and if so, which is the best way to do it and bring glory to his name. People will do what they choose to. I have never been one to follow the crowd. This is just a reminder of what people claim to be celebrating.

The Christmas celebration is a Roman Catholic Church doctrine and tradition and it is not in the Holy Bible. Christians do not celebrate Christmas if they are following the Holy Bible.

Really? I did not know that. I mean, I knew that there was no mention of Christmas or the celebration of his birth in the Holy Bible, But I did not know that the Roman Catholic Church even had their own Bible or that this was their tradition alone. I tell you, learning is exciting and I learn something new every day. I will have to do research on that. Thank you so much for sharing this informatio with me. God bless you.

Great article and so true. This really got me to thinking about how selfish people get around Christmas for gifts when we all should be giving jesus time and remembering him since it is his birthday and you are right he was sent to die for all are sins if we accept him into our hearts.Great discussion

I am quite certain that if Jesus was here on Earth he would being deported by immigration. Consider the details: Latino name, doesn't speak English, no ID, maybe from the middle east, claims to be son of God, from 2000 years ago, etc. Deported, no doubt. anyway, even if he wasn't deported, even ig you just asked nicely, "Jesus, what would you like for your birthday? What kind of cake, etc? It would be a bad sin I think. I'm not Christian so I am not quite certain on that last point. I think its true though. When John said "jesus , you look tired" at 1:16 a few yares ago February 30th, that was a bad sin, right

Great question. What would Jesus do for Christmas? I think He would probably be alone, in the garden, praying for us all to see the truth of the matter. How much of what we do would he approve of? He said the most important thing we could do is to love one another. The display of what we as Christians do, rather what we have been taught to do has little to do with His birthday. Since he was born during Passover we would be closer to celebrating his birthday in April but once again, as Christians, we have been taught that holiday was reserved for the Easter Bunny. Christmas is reserved for Santa and his reindeer and wondering how much everyone is going to spend on the gifts under the tree. (but I regress).... So what would Jesus be doing for Christmas? I doubt seriously if he would do anything but what His Father told him to do. Maybe he would pick a place on the side of the mountain and preach a parable to teach of the value of love and giving everyday instead of being so drawn into the idea the world has placed on the holiday. If you are wondering where you, as a blood bought child of the King fit into all this, we are supposed to seperate outselves from the things of this world and think on Him. We are to follow Him. If we know He was Jewish and that He most likely would not have connected Himself to such a day, and we know we are to follow Him as the Example, should we, as blood bought children celebrate this holiday? Well, to each his own.....but for me and my house, we serve the Lord and don't recognize the manmade holidays of the world. Still, we respect those who wish to recognize the day.

Amen, Rozie. Christmas has become too commercial and the meaning is gone. I don't enjoy Christmas nearly as much as I used to. There are too many expectations and it's all about how much money you spend and what you buy people. My friend and I were actually talking about this the other day. I have to give my grandpa credit. He makes sure we take the time to celebrate Jesus when we go to my mom's house for Christmas. He makes sure to make that the most important thing.

I understood very well how you are affected by Christmas commercialism.Other people had forgotten the real essence of this celebration. But I disapprove of your protest of not celebrating. Christmas here in my country is celebrated as the legacy of the gift of love to mankind. It is in this time most families who are away from is other gather and be united and be thankful for God's love. The unconditional True love he left for the living. You may see him as a Sacrificial lamb, but don't forget about His birth and that is very important in the history of mankind.A birth of any humans amongst us is also a joyful event so much more with the Saviour(Jesus is human and divine).Imagine your mother not JOYFUL of your BIRTH? That's exactly that is about this Christmas. As like in life, you don't focus on the suffering aspect of your loved ones but the goodness he/she give and left you.Without Christmas, the universe should have stopped functioning, as like people who don't have LOVe in their life, so much of gift of speaking in toungues and gift of intelligence but without the perfection of the virtue of love, you act stupid and a GONG too noisy but empty inside. So, if you're burn out with other people's reason to celebrate this holiday, in your heart and beliefs, pray for wisdom so God will give you the gift of spirit of what the meaning of Christmas is all about.Even Jesus himself who knew will die in the end, did not stop celebrating with his people and disciples. He did not dwell on it but have to show celebration of love to PEOPLE.That is how I see Christmas to be celebrated.Spending with your loved ones(friends, colleagues, families).
