I would take it to the school office. If no one claims the money, it is yours then. It would be the only way that I could have a clear mind, knowing that I was doing the right thing. This is just my opinion.

I have no clue as to how this stuff works. I am still amazed by it all.

If it is going to really bother your conciense then give it to the school principal or some one of authority but if you want you can just keep it. I think that 50.00 isnt grounds for felling to bad. If it was over like 100 then I would feel really guilty. But hey finders keeper. LOL!

At least try to look for the owner. If you can't get the owner after numerous tries, well, you can probably keep it with a clear conscience.

I found $25 at school once. I took it to the office and they held on to it. They told me that if no one reported missing money over the week, it would be mine to keep. Sure enough, no one reported and I got to keep it. I wouldn't stress about it much, as long as you did all you could to get it to it's owner.

When this happened to me a couple of times, but never more than $20, the way I decided was by whether I thought there was anyone honest to turn it in to. In one situation I felt those in authority would be honest, so I gave it to them in case someone came looking for it. In another case, there just didn't seem any one to give it to who would actually be trusted to hold it for the owner to claim -- in that case, i considered the money a blessing for me, from God, and it did happen that I needed it.
It is nice to see you have such a good heart.
