We are in a horrendous ice storm here with lots of power outages. My mother lives in a very small town about 40 min. from me. She has a very large plot of land with lots of trees. She has had power off and on and the tree branches that fell made her yard look like a war zone. Yesterday she called and told me someone came to her yard and cleaned it all up while she was napping. She said she must have been very tired as she didn't even hear it. The branches are all stacked neatly in a pile and the tree branch hanging above her vehicle is down. They even cleaned her van windows for her.
Yes, there are definitely good people out there.
May God Bless my momma's angel!

I think that is awesome!! I live in Connecticut and I have been watching the news about the ice in Oklahoma and such, and they were saying that people were helping each other. I think that is great and I wish there were more people that helped out in the world :)

Yes, here we seem to have come together as a community and there are a lot that are volunteering time and services to those in need. My brother lives in a small town 15-20 minutes from me and the entire town is without power. A military base donated two generators to give power and heat to the city building there and it is set up as an emergency shelter.

I know that helped her out a lot. If I would have seen the person doing it, I would have donated the wood as firewood if he or she knew anyone who needed the wood.
I heard a lot of people are having to burn their furniture to stay warm. How horrible.

Yes, and I am sure my mom would have offered a hot cup of coffee or cocoa if the power were on at that time. I have a thought of who it may have been in that area and I will send them a nice card. They say some of this cannot be burned because the coating of ice is 1/4 inch thick and more.

That's nice to know. It's things like this that convince me there is still hope in this world. May their tribe increase.

I am so happy to hear that.It kind of gives you hope
again in human kind.We hear so much bad things that
we forget all people is not the same.Their are good
people out there. In time of trouble we find them.We
should recognize them when they do something, like you
did in this discussion.

Bless your momma's angel is right!...What a wonderful story to hear and share on Mylot!
How seldom we hear of any good lately, it's always bad news. This makes me feel good for your mom. So thoughtful were these people/person that they even took down the branch above her car, and cleaned her van. Wow!...this should be front page news.
Hope all is over with soon for everyone out there...take care.

Yes, you have living proof that there are wonderful people in the world. I think there are more really good people in the world than we realize. Our incorrect perception I think is partly due to negative media reporting.
I wish you and your family good luck in this time of hardship. I live in Canada and we also experienced a very severe ice storm at the end of the 1990s.
Your story reminds me of a time in the winter when I drove home in my boyfriend's old car and it broke down. I was a relatively new driver so I had little knowledge of the inner workings of a car. It was a Sunday morning and at the time, many years ago, all the stores were closed. I was lightly dressed for the weather and because I was a teenager and I thought that I was invincible! It was a deadly cold day, and I really felt like I was in serious trouble. Suddenly, out of nowhere, two men stopped, boosted the car, made sure that it was running well, and left without a word. I was so cold I thought it was a dream! So I agree, there are truly good people in the world!
