do you choose what youre kids watch?

My son has never even expressed an interest in watching anything I'd find inappropriate except maybe Simpsons. There are certain channels that I know only offer childrens programing and he knows which ones he can watch. Disney, Nickeleon, Cartoon Network, etc. But the other thing I find is that often the more adult content in "family" shows just go over the kids head. Many shows geared toward the whole family have more adult humor that the kids don't even realize are there. If you don't believe me, go back and watch reruns of things you watched as a child such as "The Muppet Show" you have a whole new appreaciation of programs then you did then.

Well I dont know how old your child/children are but I have a 9 year old so I understand what you're saying. Myself I sit and watch a show with her and I make sure I sit through the whole thing to see if it is age suitable. My daughter watches family chanel most times so I dont have to much to worry about but I still do watch the shows to make sure they are okay. As for news and that I mnimize on exposure to it she will be watching when she gets older so why worry with it now I dont watch it much either so I guess that helps. bb:)s

family guy, simpsons are not kid shows.. they are for a mature audience... just before the show and before the show comes back on it gives you a warning about this... if you want to make sure that your kids are watching approiate cartoons... sit them infront of the cartoon network, teletoon, ytv... if its just local television you are going to have all the cuss worlds etc on them
