Do you give your baby a bath every night?

I was giving my daughter a bath every night and then her skin started to get real dry. Do you think it's from giving her a bath every day? How often did you give your baby a bath? I always put lotion on her after she gets out of the bath but that doesn't seem to help. Any suggestions?

yes, i'm giving my daughter a bath every night..except if she has fever, flu or colds..in our country it's very humid so i need to give her a bath atleast twice a day..but in your country don't need to bath it regularly coz of your weather..i think baby oil can help for the dryness then don't us a soap that can make the babies skin dry, then don't use a daily towels to rub her skin..hope it can help..

Alot of it does depend on the age of the baby and the time of year. An older baby might enjoy a cool bath every day during hot weather but otherwise it's unnecessary to give daily baths. I've even heard that once a week during the winter is perfectly fine unless the baby is actually getting dirty from something. If your daughter's skin is getting dry even with lotion cut back on the baths as much as necessary to get her skin normal again.

LOL. I would hope that you didn't give him a bath anymore. I guess they are always your baby no matter how old they are. Have a great day and thanks for the laugh.

My midwife told me NOT to bathe my daughter every night & that every 2nd night was MORE than enough because infants have a natural oil in their skin - the more you bathe then, the more it goes away & you end up with dry skin. You should try bathing her in a medicated baby wash (just squeeze some in to the bath water & mix well), that should help but since you have already done the daily bathing thing, the natural oils in your babies skin may already be gone. Just try the lotions for in the bath for sensitive skin or to revitalise baby's skin & that might do the trick! Good Luck!

How old is your baby?... my baby used to have the same problem but i found out that it was because of the baby powder that her grandma uses on her... and when i asked her to stop using it... the dryness went away... Your baby's dry skin can be cause by the products that you are using on her... it may be the soap, powder, detergent to wash the clothes, or even the fabric of her clothes... so try to experiment to find out the real cause...

My daughter just turned a year old. Her skin has just started to get dry. It's only on her arms. The doctor told me to use this cream on her skin but it hasn't helped yet. I have slacked off to every other day and hopefully that will help her dry skin. Thanks. Have a great day.

It is vital that you give her a cool bath, not warm bath that causes dryness.Use Dove or neutogena or Johnsons tip to toe wash. You should also give every day bath because the germs will cause infection that causes illnesses

A bath every day isn't necessary, especially in the winter. My youngest is 20 months and usually gets one bath a week in the winter, unless she gets real sticky at dinner or whatever. In the summer she takes them as needed, which is usually every other day. Same with my older kids. They take a bath/shower on Sunday regularly and any other time as needed in the winter. In the summer it is almost every night because they get so sweaty.

I dont give Stephanie a bath every night, usually every other night unless she gets really messy during the day. She has super dry skin but the doc said it was excema. She gave us a cream to put on when she gets the rough patches. I always put lotion on her. Maybe try a sensitive skin lotion.

When my babies were actually babies I bathed them every day until they were a little older I put baby oil on them from head to toe. There was never a problem with them getting dry skin. I never put powder any wher except on the bottom. I would also put oil on the bottom from time to time during the day after diaper changes.

I give my son a bath every day. I sometimes do it in the morning if he's really dirty from accident in bed other wise I give him a bath before bedtime. I think its important to keep him clean every day.

I give my baby daughter a bath twice a day, one in the morning and another at night. It is really humid and warm where we live and plus my daughter is a toddler so she plays everywhere and could get really dirty. Her skin has the tendency to get dry, too. But I have found this really good lotion for babies and it is "pediatrician recommended". It's safe for very sensitive skin as my baby has skin asthma. It is Aveeno Baby lotion, helps heal and protect delicate skin.

I agree with the respondents I read here. Unless they get really dirty, I don't bathe him every night. Babies have sensitive skin and his is more so. As far as his hair, the doctor says since its so prone to flakes that it should only be washed a few times a week. I do give him mini sponge baths. We have green tea wipes and I use those, they're moisturizing because they also contain aloe vera. They smell good too. I do it when changing his clothes or diapers or after he's eaten.

I guess omtimes it all depends on your babys skin, but how old is your baby?.... i would stop giving her a abth everynight and use lotion for dryskin a mild one.. and see what happends if it doesnt clear up take ehr to your family dr because it could be exema, and you will need special creme for that... Goodluck.. I give my daughter a bath like 4 times a week, also most the time during the day, becayse sometimes at night its to cold..

I give my baby a bath every few days and then when he needs it. If he gets dirty he gets a bath, or messy from lunch or dinner. Otherwise, just every couple or few days. Dry skin could be from the soap. If she is prone to dry skin, this would certainly make it harder to manage. You could give her a bath and just rinse her off with the water unless she is dirty. You could also buy a soap for dry and sensitive skin. Also make sure she is rinsed off really really well, soap residue is a yucky thing. Other things to consider would be adding a dab of oil (baby oil, olive oil, or avocado oil) to the bath water, or a dab of oatmeal, and the last suggestion would be aloe vera gel or oil.

I give my baby a bath when he's dirty... which tends to be every couple of days. If he did something particularly messy that day (like deciding to turn chewed-up cheerios into a face mask)... then he'd get a bath even if he got one the day before. His skin does get really dry if I give him baths too often too, even with lotion. And since he's inside a lot, it's not like he rolls in mud.

About three times a week is all a baby needs. Bathing too often can really dry the skin. I would cut it down to just every other day or every third day, unless she really needs it, like a diaper leaked or something. In between baths, just wash down her diaper area and skin folds, like underarms and neck with a wet wash cloth. When you do give her a bath, use cooler water. When you get her out of the tub, put the lotion on while her skin is still wet.

I was told to not give my baby a bath everyday as it would dry their skin out. I gave them baths about 3 times a week. Babies don't get real dirty just being held and sleeping in a crib unless they spit up or something then I woud usually bath them to get the smell off of their skin.

First, check the temperature of the water that you are washing your baby in. Sometimes it is just a little bit too hot and that can dry out your baby's skin. Also, try using baby oil, instead of lotion. Lotion sometimes doesn't have enough moisterizers for babies skin.

I have a 6 months old and we were told by the mid wifes NIT to bath him every night as it can lead to skin condition ,the body needs to build up an amune system. And also a baby dose not get that dirty! We bath him every 2-3 days
