I absolutely despise paypal and ebay now. Since my account hasn't been extemely active for the last few months and now is hopping, paypal has limited my account. With $3000 in it! I am so upset. I have tons of customers that cannot get their orders because I cannot process it. This is a bunch of crap if you ask me. I plan on going to the BBB over this. Has anyone had similar experiences? What is your opinion on ebay and paypal?

I don't really despise either, but I find the fees to be somewhat high. I requested a Payapl debit card and use it whenever my account balance is above $75. I use Paypal to pay for my monthly Ebay and Etsy fees. I don't sell much on Ebay, but my hubby does (he sells certified sports cards, with a no return policy for 3rd party graded materials)I do buy on Ebay. I have never had a problem, other than a bidder not paying on time or at all and Ebay has always returned by FVF. It is what it is and I find it very tough to make money on Ebay with all the fees. I would prefer to accept USA Postal Money Orders, but that limits my possible customer base. Do you have a premier account with Paypal?

They do tend to support buyers more than their sellers. When you consider their rules, it's very easy to scam a seller and get away with it. Ebay and to a lesser extent Payapl will do little to support their sellers unless you include signature confirmation on every shipment. It's a shame, people like you trying to get a legit business going and they back scammers.

I have a business account. I have been a member since 2002. And they treated me like this. Just confirms that they don't care about their customers.

I think the trick with PayPal and eBay... is to not give them the authorization of debiting your account automatically. If you do... they offer your clients on eBay the assurance to get their money back if they are not satisfy. So PayPal is holding your money until it is sure that your clients have received their goods. I don't have such problem. I signed for a premium account with PayPal and started the process of giving them my bank details to transfer my money from PayPal to my bank account. Once that was done... I ignored them when they asked me for an authorization to debit money from my bank account. Because of that... I am not register on eBay with a premium paypal account... while I enjoy all the benefits of it without the downside of it. There is no way I would sell something on eBay while knowing that eBay can refund my money to the client if he is not satisfy. There are too many crooks on the planet for me to trust any client.

I told you that I do... Why are you telling me that I can't? Your bank account is verified to withdraw the money from PayPal into your bank account. The second part of the process to let PayPal withdraw money from your bank account is an "authorization"... not a verification.

You can't withdraw the money if you don't verify your account. Nice try tho.

I am unsure of what you are asking really. But if you are asking what I sell to generate so much money then please refer to the discussion above.

You should always keep your paypal account empty. This means you have got to cash in the money to your bank account as soon as possible (yes, even before sending stuff). I have written a fine ebay guide to 4 most useful paypal "tricks" to avoid 4 worst experiences with paypal, but alas it is in italian language. Anyway maybe the most important rule is: always keep your paypal account EMPTY. The money on it is not really at your disposal until you cash it! Indeed, paypal can lock, limit and held that money without asking permission.

Do you have any funds currently locked in it? Or is your account empty? In other words, is their "suspicious activities" motivation a way to held YOUR money?

I had this happen a couple years back and it was sort of ugly, they only had 280.00. I had to wait six months get it back, and I faxed over all this paper work and yadda yadda. I just gave up. Started my own merchant account and did some research. It turned out OK...It also depends on the reason your account was put on hold, if it can be rectified and a yadda yadda. Try contacting PP and speaking to a supervisor . Also check in with www.powersellersunite.com they've got tons of info.

I have spoke to them til I was blue in the face. I get so angry I hang up on them. Especially when I get someone who doesn't seem to get it. I wish I could just call and get the same person all the time. The worst part to me is the fact that they called me and said they wanted to verify some info and then 20 minutes later they limited my account. They are so two faced. Never said a word about limiting my account. That makes me really hate them.

they've got so many justifiable and nonjustifiable reasons its hard to determine what they consider justifiable and in fact, if you have broken any rules..what most people started doing was emptying out their accounts at the end of the day because you just don't know what will happen...sorry couldn't be of much help.

yes, that is all true. If they don't really have a reason tho, then what do you do? that is how it was with me. They just feel this way or that way. Haven't broken any rules.
