I am an American, but have spent time in the Philippines and I know the Philipino People are a lot better than the rotten deal that is being given them...regardless of whose fault it is. I, frankly, believe the world should be buying more goods and Products from the Phiippines than from China and a few other places I won't mention.

Mylot is a site with members from different parts of the world... as a Filipino... i think one reason why the Philippines is what it is today is because of people who has nothing better to do but say negative things about anything that is related to the Philippines...
For example... when Ramos was the president... they kept saying that he is not doing a good job and the economy was much better during the time of Cory Aquino... when Estrada became president they said that Ramos was better... when Arroyo became president... they said that the presidency of Estrada is much better...
So... which is which?...

Yes, I have to agree. It seems as if people just can't stop complaining. I don't think they'll ever be satisfied with who's seated. They always find something to complain on. And to think they're the same persons who voted these people to the position.
What's more depressing is that the politicians themselves are in conflict with each other. Instead of working with each other for the betterment of the country, they've done nothing than to promote trouble.

Guys the reason why I started this topic is just to gather some good or bad comments from other people like foreigners especially to those people living in the country with successful economy, incase some phil. gov't. officials or even their relatives from lower to the higher level saw and read some comments here, they maybe affected but on the other hand they surely think to do the right thing than doing something bad to our country, please don't take it negative on our part, think positive instead. . . . in that way we can find a solutions or look forward to do the best for our counrty......
IS GOV'T OFFICIALS ARE MUCH RICHER THAN BUSINESS MAN?
IS GOV'T OFFICIALS ARE GREEDY FOR POWER OR FOR MONEY?
WHY CELEBRITY PEOPLE ARE ENTERING TO POLITICS?
please read comments and response but don't take it seriously its just an opinion that will make you think whats right or wrong.......
Note:
give us some story of a corrupt officials but don't write his/her name on your post, make it secret...
ITS A GUESING GAME....people in the house!!!!

The Filipinos are like the bamboo tree which is very pliant. It swings with the storm. We are surviving and we can survive though the leadership does what wrong they want to do. They are power hungry and materially greedy. Everything has an end and that will end. Hopefully we would have a better leadership in the next administration.

Hoping good things will happen soon.
Prayer works, let's continue our hopes and see the Philippines becoming the country we wished for.

I am from the Philippines and yes, it is truly getting worse.
I don't have to say or describe the president but I guess she is smart. However, I am not sure if it is being used rightly for the country she is called to serve. We hear different hopeless embarrassing situations and decisions that our president makes.
We don't need to hear from foreigners just to confirm our claim. What we need to do now is to act on ourselves first and be the good citizen our country men will be proud of. The little good that we can do even just for ourselves is one good act for the country.
Our asian neighbors are surely laughing at us. We have a rich country but poor people. Why so? We think poor. If only we have no "Juan Tamads", our country will be better.
All I am saying is, if you can make yourself productive, it is more nation loving rather than putting all the blame to the government for all your misfortunes.

You do not need the opinion of a foreigner about the Philippines because many times, the news they get is far from the facts. Besides, the topic you started is already subjective- Philippines is getting worst. Why not start a topic asking people's opinion about the Philippines. Besides, i find it wrong to state something negative without any justifications to discuss. Why do you say the Philippines is getting worst? Remember that your statement is a comparison of the way the country is with respect to a baseline or a reference point. You do not state that baseline or reference point. Thus i find the post obscure.

i think you made it appear so grim and dark..The Philippines is not getting worst..lets take it from a different perspective.. what are we doing? what have you done, too?if we think we are just like the president then Philippines is really getting worst..This country is not solely the President's, its ours too.

Why ask foreigners when you know that their perception of the country will be vague if not ill-informed? You already said that the Philippines is getting worst, and that perception alone can lead to very biased answers. It's better to ask the people who live in the country. They know better, and they even experience it.
As for me, the country improves in some ways, deteriorates in others, while some remain as it was in the past. The economy is improving, for example, but that is because of so much BPOs and service oriented jobs both here and abroad. Add to that fact is that poor people are yet to feel the economic improvements. Education degrades, because of too regression of state responsibility. Public roads and transportation is improving though (in Metro Manila), with all the drastic efforts of the MMDA. Politics remains as dirty as ever, but we see the people who are increasingly becoming aware and critical. Extrajudicial killings are more pronounced than ever though.
In sum, you really can't say we are getting worse. There are aspects in the country which is, of course. But the real question is, what have we really done about it?

well, I am a foreigner, but I have been in and out of the Philippines for a near 5 years now. I have to say, the politics here are like a comedy. There are so many things to laugh at. (Sorry, no pun intended). Also, I think that most of the leaders here in the Philippines are not really a qualified leaders....I mean their background such as education, etc are not as high as expected. There are even movie stars or celebrity that became/become President, senate, etc.
