Did you try massaging his stomach? Once someone told me if you drink hot water it helps. I haven't tried it myself but constipation can be due to too little water in the bowels so I guess it makes sense to drink more water. Maybe he could eat something with a lot of fiber to more to help it along

oh, i haven't tried massaging his stomach. it totally crossed my mind. though i rubbed some acete de manzanilla (i don't know the english translation of this...sorry) on his tummy. i guess you're right...he doesn't like drinking plenty of water lately. i literally have to force him just to drink water. thanks for the site you've given. thanks too for your advice. im not sure how long you can store it in the fridge if its unsealed.. im sure the same as any other juice... ruffage things like dates is a good one.. cleans out your system... dates dont taste good at all... and with him being 2 years old might be a good idea to get chocolate covered dates..

At home none of us take the alopathy medicines. We also do not go to doctor for treatment as far as above complaints are concerned.
My mother used to tell the following :
1. Drink a lot of water
2. Drink 2 to 3 cups of hot water
3. Try and grind all the intake of food instead of swallowing. The more grinding done with the teeth, the better the digestive system.
4. If you are normally walking 2 kms, walk for 3 kms.
5. Use plenty of ginger in your food.
6. If the constipation is due to gas in the stomach, my wife takes Gastrix - pills made in Ayurvedic medicine - harmless herbal medicine.
7. For next two or three days, try to live on easily digestable foods like vegetables and vegetarian food.
Inform me whether these things have made any impact positively.

hey there...
my 2 years old daughter is also always constipated, i dont have a home remedy though, but her daughter prescribe something , called duphalac that i mix with her milk at bedtime, say 15 ml, for the first week, then gradually lower the dose, or give it every other night,
it works for my daughter, she has no problem since she's taking duphalac...
oh... i almost forgot, her doctor don't advise suppository...

all i know is that one needs to eat foods rich in fiber as well as fruits to allow bowel movement. or give him yogurt. :)

I was going to tell you about prunes or prune juice but others have beaten me to it. Also, have him drink plenty of water, as others have also told you, give him things like cereal with lots of fiber and try having mineral oil on hand for when he still becomes constipated. Just put a small amount in his food or beverage. Just a tiny amount to start, maybe 1/2 a teaspoon at a time is all. This won't hurt him and it won't give him diahrea it will just help him go "gently" and naturally.

If your son will eat the peel of an apple that will work too. The peel is coarse which will cause his bowels to move. My daughter hates the peel of the apple but when she hasn't gone in a while I make her eat one so that it will help her go. It really does work even though it sounds weird.
I hope he gets to feeling better soon. Stomachaches from constipations really stink!

The soap thing is only recommended for older people...at least 13 and up. That's what they used many moons ago. But it does work. As for a little guy, kick up the fiber. Warm apple juice, works really good. And lots of water...you gotta drink lots of water. What kind of cereal does he eat? Can you give him some raisin bran? If you're afraid he will choke on the raisins put in a blender or food processor to make easier to swallow. No, he won't like it, but it's what's best. Also, after giving any of these, lay him on your lap and put a warm cloth under his back or on his chest. My family has a constipation problem and all of these things have worked not only on children, but adults as well. I hope this information was helpful. If I find out any other helpful advice I will come back and post it.

His problem is his diet. He is eating too much prepared food and milk. Try changing his diet to green vegetables and raw fruit. Cut down his milk consumption and give him fruit juices and water. No soda pop or cookies. He might resist for a day or so but his constipation will be cured. Never give a child constipation remedies as they will soon become habit forming. Green veggies and raw fruit are the best medicine you can take!

The only thing that i know of thats good for this is prunes. They say prune juice is even better. But i doubt you will be able to get your two year old to eat prunes or even drink the juice.

My mother used to have us drink warm water. It has the same reaction as when we drink coffee as an adult. Give him like an almost full glass of warm water . It worked for me and my siblings every time.

My mom had seven of us kids a year apart and she used Ivory soap, we were all healthy as kids and still are, but I just read one of the responses that said it can give you a fever, so I don't know if I would try it or not. I do know that warm simmered prunes work. There are all kinds of home remedy books out there that might give you some ideas, but if he is in constant pain it might be a good idea to take him to the DR., just in case something else is going on in his system. It is so sad when babies are in pain because they can't really yell you how they feel or what for sure that the're feeling. Good luck.

Buy only high-fiber cereals like all bran or even frosted mini wheats. But milk will make constipation worse. So either go light on the milk or instead of milk, mix the cereal with an apple/prune juice mixture. Applesauce will help. How much milk do you give him a day? That is a big culprit in constipation of little ones. Also, give him lots of veggies like spinach. I think broccoli causes gas so be careful of giving him too much. If he doesn't like veggies but likes spaghetti sauce you can puree the veggies in a blender and mix it in the sauce and he won't know the difference!
You could even try something like Metamucil but read the directions first- it might not be good for someone his age. Also, have a chat with your doctor to eliminate any food allergies which could cause problems.

Hello dear friend. I think that honey dew is very helpful in constipation. Have you ever tried this, please? Also bananas help a lot. They are very useful and helpful. I hope that you will just let your son have a try. Also have your son drink more water and do not eat any unhealthy food that might cause constipation. Good luck to your son.

i had this problem with one of my babies and what worked great was have him eat a fresh apple, this will make him go in a hour or so.now not applejuice because tha's very constipating but fresh apples aren't.also you can put prune juice in his bottle as well.you can store the prune juice for a few months in the fridge.another really great one is a little of karo syrup that you can buy in the food store and it must be the dark karo syrup.these all work wonders.my son had this problem for almost a year and now he goes every day almost, but make sure you cut back on the juice and drink more water.pattie
