Being reviled for the name of Christ

I was thinking of persecution and someone told me or wrote to me that we do not get persecuted. Well it seemed there is this member who has some followers who all agree with her. I told her something that the end results led to a certain conclusion. She assumed that I was a Baptist, a murderess, that my church forced people to go to church, that I was stupid for believing my Bible and her followers agreed with her, evolution is right, creation is wrong, etc. I just said a simple statement, if the result of something was --- and it got her hot and bothered. So I thought I had better post this. Do not worry, it is from the King James Version and is in public domain. Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you,and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil, against you falsely for my sake. Mat 5:12 Rejoice and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so9 persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

You are absolutely right, but I wouldn't be too worried about the people who will close their minds to the truth. Jesus told the diciples that when they left those cities to shake the dust off of their feet and keep going. When you are right, you don't have to prove anything. Don't argue with anyone, just speak the truth and then stand. The Bible says, having done all to stand, stand therefore. When we argue with them, then we get out of the spirit and into the flesh and it ruins our testimony. God knows when you have done your best. God bless you.

Thanks for the encouragement. I was starting to feel a little down. I tried to tell the truth and they got into a rant and said the Bible was wrong, then they talked as if I was not there except to write long rants against me.

Take heart. Don't forget, they hated God, long before they hated you. This is a spiritual warfare.

It is still a shock to think that they obey this one lady and take her word as truth. I guess I have to keep on fighting and standing up for the truth.

I don't understand. Why would a "friend" get upset.A friend should respect your beliefs Even though she believes the complete opposite. And why would these packages upset anyone. Maybe because I am not Christian I don't understand. What do these passages really mean?

hi suspenseful I hope my response to your discussion about taking prayer out of school didn't upset you. I have met those who spoke of God is Love and yet they acted otherwise. I do love my pets, but this doesn't mean I don't love children. I believe that we should protect and support the weak whenever we can, this includes little children, seniors and pets from being abused or harmed. I read that you mentioned animals have no soul, I think every living being does or else they won't live. I think I know who is the member you mentioned. Both of you are on my friends list and I have had my response to her correcting her views about Hitler as Christian just like I tried to correct you that every living being has souls, including animals. I appreciate both of your discussions and I believe both of you are above all kind and caring friends in your own way. I will give you a link to my response to this member.

I heard there are two different meaning for souls, people living beings, animals living creatures. And there is a meaning of soul is the essence that lives forever, you know you hate God you go to hell and continually burn forever, you love God, God choses you and you wind up in heaven. So as far as that relates to animals, in that consequence if the animal was a cute cocker spaniel, is there such a place as Puppyland? I also believe God is Love, but HE also punishes those who do evil, like well Hitler for instance, and that horrible monster John Gacey. I mean their crimes were so horrible and well Hitler did not have the courage to face his accusers. He did kill himself. Thank you for your response.

I agree, you don't need to worry, once the Holy Spirit through you takes His stand for the Faith that Christ placed inside you, The Holy Spirit has already given his peace to the people who revile you, it's up to them to take it and it's going to be between them and God regarding that matter. Don't worry, it's now in God's hands. Note that i'm not saying this as a curse or something, but i'm letting you know that God saw what happened and it's all up to Him to decide of what will transpire for that one who reviled you, not only you, but Christ and God. Jesus mentions in Matthew 10:32-33 that: "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." Don't worry God has your back and always remember that God loves you always. To God be the glory always :)

I am not that good at speaking, writing yes, speaking no. I have noticed when someone stands up for Christ even in myLot then the atheists or those who believe that all roads lead to heaven and you can do anything to write do things like taking scriptures out of context and unless you have just gone through seminary and have a degree in Latin or Greek and now the Bible, all versions backward and forward, you are stuck given an answer because they have university degrees but you do not. That is why it is essential to read the Bible, so that we can give an answer to those fools who say in their hearts, "there is no God."

I don't know if this person said that we don't get persecuted was talking about just in America or the world, but all Christians will be persecuted just like the scriptures say. The difference in America and other free countries and those in other countries are how they are persecuted. In other countries that don't have freedom, you can read just about anywhere how they are killed and tortured for their beliefs. In free countries, it's more subtle and not physical, but more like verbally or emotionally attacked..

I think all persecutions are bad, and although physical is bad, at lest when you die you are with God in Heaven. With you being emotionally abused, you are still alive and if you are not strong in your faith, you might be overwhelmed and do something you later regret.

Yes and unfortunately sometimes that persecution comes from other believers, making someone weaker to turn away from G♥d..

Heated discussion usually sprang from religion. I myself is irritated when someone or other sects tells something wrong or bad against my beliefs. Other sects always says something against catholics. They always say that we catholics are pagans because we pray on images, we believe in Virgin Mary and other saints. But in reality people have pictures of their loved ones in their wallets and have figurines in their homes. Well, is that also some kind of paganisms???

My daughter-in-law is Roman Catholic but the priest seems to be one of the Charasmatic kinds. I know that they believe in Christ, but give the Virgin Mary more predominance than us Protestants do. Mary was good woman, she was God fearing, and obedient to her family and then to her father. We should do well to emulate her, but she was still human. She had birth children after Jesus, so she was no longer a virgin. She was an example of a woman who put God first for if she was not, God would not have allowed her to carry his only beloved Son. Paganism is not having pictures in the wallet or figurines in the home, it is worshiping them and sacrificing things to them. I think you are confusing that with ancestral worship.

If we are servants of God and we are reviled because we serve Him, then we are blessed. But if we are persecuted because of our own actions and not for God, that is not the blessedness that is spoken of in that verse.

we are definatly going to be persecuted in his name and many have already experienced this however we are warned in John 16 2 a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering a service to God. 3. They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. 4. I have told you this, so that when the time comes you will remember that I warned you.

It is happening more and more. Already in Canada, whenever a Christian goes against homosexuality, the Human Rights Commission sides with the later even though even the non Christians write and say that the rulings are wrong. It has not happened to killing Christians yet, but it will be soon. I pray that the States take warning so that none of what wlll happen in Canada will happen there.

Mat 5:11 & 12 say it quite nicely I think and personally I would rather be persecuted for the name of Christ. Than loved for the alternative.

I'm glad you started this discussion. I think I've gotten more out of it than anything else I've read on MyLot. I usually try to argue with people, but Rozie37 is right. She seems wise. I try to be "smarter" or more "clever" than the person I'm arguing against. It stops being about Christ and starts being about me winning. I must work on this. All we can do is speak the truth and people must make their choice.

I should try that. They get it all wrong. I had to go and unchecked the responses and comments in my email, and have to choose who I want to receive emails from and only go on my sites that I have not checked the best responses to. I hate doing that and I hate no more commenting or answering responses because I do not want ungodly people to think they have won.
