Oprah has been outspoken in her support for Senator Barack Obama.
Some argue that it's because of race - some of her viewers are upset because she's outspoken about the race.
The question today is: Do you think Oprah supports Obama because he's black or because of where he stands on issues? Do you think Oprah should be this outspoken about politics? Any other comments about this new relationship would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe she is supporting him because he is from Il. and she is from Chicago. Like any American she has the right to support whom ever she likes. I think she is wrong but she has every right ot be wrong. If she wants to use her show to express her views no one is making you watch it.

Oprah picked her candidate and unless he commits a horrible faux pas she will stand behind him. With her charisma, Obama will most likely win the nomination.
Why she picked Obama, is not as important as what she is doing to the Democratic Party. If he does in fact win the nomination, it will be the first time in a long time that a powerful person stepped in and just took over a nomination and won it for a candidate. This is the only part that is not right.

It's ridiculous for anyone to think Oprah is supporting Obama because of race. There have being other black candidates for president in the past, and she did not support them. I think she truly believes he is the best candidate for the job. She is an American and has the right to be outspoken about any candidate she wants to. Yes, she is a powerful woman. I think her support does help him, but he would have to work really hard if he wants to win the presidency. I am not very impressed with him so far.

I think it is both.she remembers when she was considered colored and inferior. So to have a black man running for president and being really in the running is great. And he is a democrat. His platform has many things Oprah believes in. So why not campaign for him? Now will it help? I don't know. And if many new people vote, will they really count their votes is another question.

Here is my question, what difference would it make, if she does agree with his stand on the issues and the fact that he is black, I choose not to vote for Obama. But if I were to do that it would be because as a black man he would know the problems facing the black person, of which I am one. Every one votes on the strength of what affects them personally, Oprah may have voted for him for his stand on the treatment, education, and employment issues affecting blacks.
Just like most women will vote for Hilary for her stand on things that make women stand up and take notice. Her stands on health care, equal pay and more status for women and mother hood will bring her to the forefront of the campaign.

Oprah is supporting him because he's black. Personally, I can't stand Obama Bin Laden. He's horrid. If he wins the nomination, and not that it matters as popularity votes don't count, I'll vote for whomever gets the republican nom.
Oprah knows how much pull she has. She knows people follow her and flock to whatever she supports. Just because she supports Obama Bin Laden does not mean we should all blindly follow her. But sadly, many will.
Go Hillary or Mike Huckabee!
