This morning I wanted to see if one of my friends has a picture of herself in her image section and I was very disappointed to see that she doesn't. Although I do like to see pictures of family and things they like I think it's nice to have an idea as to what our friends look like.
Do you have a picture of yourself in your photo/image section? If you don't what's the reason behind it?

I have posted a couple of pictures under interests but they don't show up on my profile. My avatar is a picture of me though. I'll add one more to this discussion because I just realized that I could.

I think the problem is most people don't know how to put their own picture as an avatar. Personally I don't like to use pictures as avatars but like to find just somethng that I like.

I've discussed this in a previous post that you probably missed, ctry, but the fact is I'm not comfortable taking pictures-and I don't have a scanner or whatever it takes to upload photos. I do have plenty family photos on my Flickr site and in my email storage because my daughter sends them regularly, also my granddaughter. I used to have some on my myLot photo page, but received a message some time ago that they were looking for other kinds of photos, so I cut it to only a couple. I am making you the same promise that I made another member recently-I will go through them all soon and see if I can find one with me in it.

No, I don't have a photo of myself here. In fact, I don't post photos online :) Reason? Well, there is a reason. I had posted my picture in IM once, and I noticed that people make uncalled for comments about my face. There is nothing I can do about my face, and I am perfectly comfortable with my face as it is. But I hated it when online friends, people who had never met me face me face, made hateful comments about my face. So, now, no pics. My avatar is a nice big black cat. :)

I tried and tried at mylot and the last I knew, it wouldn't take it. But it did eventually take it at Helium. So that is where I can be seen.

My advatar is my photo. My son took it about 2 years ago (when he was 3) and since I'm usually the one behind the camara this is like one of the only ones I have.

I have a picture of myself with my husband and son. I didn't have any good pictures of just me to put up, but if I ever get one I'm happy enough with, I will do so. I don't think I'm very photogenic. Even people who think I'm very attractive in real life see my photos and are like... "Is that even you??" Bleh. :P
I'll have to try again to get a good photo to put up one of these days, but people can at least get an idea of what I look like from the one with my guys! :P

Well each person has her own opinions and feelings about posting personal photos online.
Some have no problem with it, and post any pictures they feel like.
Some are a bit more careful and post them only in safe places often with passwords or some other ways of protecting them.
Some don't post personal photos at all.
The reason being that what ever you put in the internet has the potential to be seen by everyone. And everyone means everyone. People that you will want to see the photos, people you don't mind if they see the photos and people that shouldn't see the photos - this includes perverts and crazy people :)
Photos, together with information on the people posting them - that even if minimal can clue in to where the person lives etc - can be copied, altered, used by people you don't even know.
It is nice to share pictures with family and friends, but it can be dangerous to share them with people we don't know.
It is nice to be able to share pictures with friends we make online, but in some cases it can be dangerous.
I usually don't post personal pictures online, at least not in open sites or forums.
I do have my personal site where I keep in touch with friends and family and where I have a place with the pictures I want to share with them. That area of my site is password protected. Only the people that I give the password to can enter. It's not 100% effective , but it's the best I can do. There I have pictures of me, my family , my children. To share with family and friends but online and out, but with some safety.

No. I used to but the picture was distorted so you couldn't really make out my features so well. I don't like to post pictures of myself online. I like to try to be as anonymous as possible online. I don't like giving out real personal information and that includes posting pictures.

Well, I have a picture of myself as my Avatar. My husband doesn't want me to put pictures of the boys on the internet because we don't know who or where their real mother is. I'm still thinking about sneaking a picture of them into a conversation someday. ;-)

Brian and I both have pictures in our profile pictures section. Along with pictures of ourselves, there are other pictures. I agree that it is nice to be able to see who you are talking to. It's nice to be able to put a face to the name and discussions.

I do not remmeber if i had uploaded a picture of myself or not. I know there is apicture of my daughter from when i was on mylot last time. I think i may check. I do not take a whole lot of picturs of myself so i dont think i have any recent ones to upload if there is not one alreyd there. I guess it IS nice to see what the person you are talking to looks like is n't it ? I am not at home now but i will try to remember to upload one later if there is not one there.

The only picture of me is the one in my avavtar and that's because it's the only one of me on thie computer. I'm mostly the one behind the camera so there aren't to many opportunities for me to be in the photos.

Not everyone has a means to have their photos online. I don't have a digital camera so I don't have any pictures on the computer. It would be nice if I had one because I love to take pictures, especially of sceneries. But in saying that, I don't think I would put a picture of myself on mylot, anyways. I don't think I want people to see the real me. I am a very private person and one of the reasons I am on mylot is because of my anomity. No one really knows who I am so I can vent here and it won't make a difference because no one knows who I am in real life. It makes it easier for me that way.
