Last night I was watching Alpha Dog, which is a movie based on the true story of Jesse James Hollywood. It got me thinking.
If your life were actually interesting enough to be made into a movie (Whether for good a la Pursuit of Happyness or Bad a la Alpha Dog) would you actually want to see it?
Obviously Alpha Dog is not a good story as it's about an infamous drug dealer who was on America's most wanted list for 5 years before being caught... and so he's in jail and I doubt he's seen the movie.
But the Pursuit of Happyness guy helped to make his movie.
So if there was a movie about your life, whether good or bad, would you want anything to do with it and/or want to watch it?
I think I would. Mainly cause I'd be curious who they would get to portray me and who my friends/family etc. But I mean, if I actually had to relive something I may not want to watch it.

My life is super lame as you know, but lets pretend I'm awesome. I think I would want to see it, or least be some part of it. I would be curious to know who would portray me and how they would actually make the script. Like, would it be pretty close to accurate or would it get the Hollywood treatment, ya know? You know how Hollywood can get a little crazy with movies and go overboard. I wouldn't want to see it if I had to relive something bad. That would really suck if you were trying to get over some rough times. But I would definitely want to know who they would get to play my totally awesome internet bff.:P

ha ha...well that's the point of course, to pretend we all have the cool lifes we wish we had.
Aww i'd see your movie, even if you didn't see it. I'd be curious who would play me too. I wonder if they'd be me in my movie also!
Yeah, being involved in how you are portrayed is pretty crucial. Sometimes they just really twist the stories and change it way too much. I think that's a good part to be involved in, but having to relive some tragedies might not be too good at all.
maybe you would be portrayed by angelina jolie!

Well, each and every life is associated with a story, it all depends on your capability to portray it on the silver screen. Regarding, Alpha Dog it make a interesting story about a fugitive and that is what the movie makers want. A story which is worth highlighting definitely sells in the market. It is upto our discretion whether we make it to know it in public.

Well, I strongly believe that each and every life has the capability to convey a message or a brief story about the good, bad and worse situation in the life.
I would definitely love to get portrayed on to the silver screen, because my life has a story to tell.It would a great mirror about the struggle in my life to get a better career and my achievements as a humanbeing and an ideal personality.

yeah, but I wasn't asking whether or not each life conveyed a story or what the criteria was for a movie to be made about it. I said if your life was interesting enough to HAVE your life made into a movie... would you watch it.
If it was a story about how you kidnapped a boy and had him killed would you watch it.
if it was a story about how you were so poor you had to sleep in public bathrooms and suffer trials and tribulations before some amazing good...
or whatever story your life happens to tell...good or bad, would you want to watch the movie.
it helps to actually read posts before responding to them so you can actually know what the person is asking about and not write profound thoughts that may sound good and may be great for another post, but just make you look kind of dumb because you didn't bother reading the post.

I would have to watch, out of morbid curiosity, vanity, or whatever. But if my life was worth making a movie about then probably, as you say, something bad must have happened, and you're right, it would likely be tough to have to live through again, even if it had a happy ending.
It would be kind of cool to be played someone attractive, young and dynamic, such as Justin Timberlake or Will Smith, though. Don't movies always make life more glamorous, even when they're serious, 'realistic' dramas? I'm sure I'd be either frustrated or amused by any movie in which I was character, just because it would never match the real experience.

Well not all movies are based on bad true stories. I mean, there are some that are simply good stories. But all stories have that downfall. I mean pursuit of happyness was overall good but bad had to happen before the good.
Yeah, it would be cool to see how much they change your life story just to make it more interesting for movies. .. but really that's only if you have a hollywood blockbuster for a movie. if your life story is an independant movie., it has the chance to be more true-to-life.

i guess i would like my life story to be a comedy, but it would probably be a farce. i would like to be played by a young Al Pacino but would probably be portrayed by macauley caulkin.
my family would be the cast of friends but probably be played by the adams family.
i would love to watch this movie but it will probably never ever be made!
