Do you smile when you hear a heart-struck thing talked in a humorous way ?

Yesterday afternoon,i went to hear a lecture about water resource and water environment security.In the course of this lecture, a teacher refered to one of his experiences in shan xi province to illustrate the situation of our country's water environment security. One day ,he arrived at a remote village.He saw a beautiful girl seated in a distance,and he went to make a nod to that girl.Then when the girl standed up smilingly he found her legs were X-shaped,a disease resulted from highly F-contained water distributed in the region where she was born. Then audience laughed.I do not know why they laughed, perhaps just for the humorous way in which the teacher talked.I think what we as students should do is not to smile away what we hear, but to find the cause of it.Such a beautiful girl!Such a heart-struck thing!She was handicapped just for we having not paid enough attention to water pollution and our government having not provided healthy water for them. So sad! When you hear such a heart-struck thing, what is your reaction?When it is talked in a humorous way ,do you smile for such humor.
