Do you agree on shameless self-promotion?

I've been doing shameless self-promotion in the Internet for some while. I also started doing them in real life. Like saying to acquaintances, "Hi, I am Conrad Miguel of conradmiguel.com" and other stuff. Do you do that? For me, it's good cause I increase my self-esteem in that way. I do them in a polite and nice way. :D
