I'm afraid to go out in public now...How about you?

In relation to the recent shootings and disasters going on in the United States, I have been a bit paranoid about public places. I was once what one would call a "mall rat", but now I have not been to any malls since that deadly shooting in Utah occured. I'm even a bit scared to go to college because of the Virginia Tech shootings. I want to know that I'm not alone in feeling this way. I'm I being overly worried, or do you feel the same way?

i totally think it all depends on how strong of a person you are..my grandmother is like that too..she lives her life protected and secure..which is fine but then how can you enjoy life ? i dont feel the same way..we all have to leave..no matter how we go..people are like that all around us..so not just at the mall , not just at colleges..but even when just walking the dog..soo i dont think you should live your life like this..but i do see where you are coming from..yes , i watch my back for people like this ..but never fear things like that..those people all want you to be scared..

Sorry, but I can't say that I feel that way. I'm not going to let idiots like that rule my life, and that's what would be happening. Yes, I am and always have been aware of who or what was around me. And I have always made mental notes of exits, etc. But, I could just as easily be harmed stepping off a curb tomorrow, being careful is one thing, becoming paranoid or a shut-in because of idiots is another, and I won't allow that to happen to me.
