Credit card has become an indispensible tool, but with its usage popularity everso increasing, it has become a tool for comfort for many as well as misery. But I think the credit card can be very helpful if we could use it smartly. For example, my dad use it to get a big cash advance which he then use in a short-term investment which gives him profit as well as payoff the entire amount plus interest. Can you please share your smart credit card use tips? I bet everyone will find these helpful. Thanks.

I believe that it is very easy to get entangled in debt because of the credit card. It feels good to just buy something without using money and just presenting a plastic card to the cashier. To one who doesn't compute, this is very dangerous. The temptation to max out is very high. And even for someone like me who is very conscientious, i still sometimes forget due dates and therefore find myself paying a huge amount for one month.
However, in my experience, I have never bought anything that I don't need or because of impulse. I haven't even paid any surcharge or interest for the last 3 years that I have my card. What I do is that I buy only things that I already have the money to pay for it. I don't use my credit card just to buy things. I use my credit card because in doing so, I earn rewards points.
So with that, the credit card is not necessarily evil. Like money, it is amoral. It is the motive behind its use that makes it evil.
As with everything discipline is key. Determine only what you want to spend or what you can afford to spend for a certain month. And if you are paying for something on installment using your credit card, don't make major purchases while you are still paying for it so that your purchases and payments will not overlap. YOu should really be concerned with this, especially if some of your regular payments such as household bills are being taken our of your card.
Just do some mathematics regularly and you will be okay. :-) God bless you!

Thanks spoiled311. That very true every word you said. Even I can relate to your experiences. Having a credit card usually gives us a sense of freedom to buy whatever at a slash of a plastic which imo is a false freedom. True, you really should be very choosy on what to buy, not buy on impulse or whim even if it's a sale, overlapping of installment payments, loading everything in your card/s and don't compute if you will have the budget to pay for them. Thanks again for sharing your tips.

Really important thing is to track your transactions these days. You must keep a look at the transactions which you have made, sometimes these days it has happened with many customers that somebody's else crookedness has to be borne by the owner of card.
Always keep the charge slips out of reach of anybody apart from yourself. Make a list of all the purchases and tally it with the charges slips which you have accumulated till the next bill arrives.
Tear off all the charge slips once they are more than 1 -2 billing cycle old, or as per your convenience.
Some banks offers cash back schemes for a limited period, note down the amount which you have spend on your card and keep the charge slip for the same in safe place. When the amount is not credited for the same cashback you may always get it from the bank, but if you have no records then you may never remember it.
Don't use your credit card for the cash transactions or withdrawals. They are charged the maximum interest. Avoid it.
Paying your bills in time is really important as mentioned by the lady "Moudha". Keep track of the billing statement if you are out of station. Always ask the bank to mail the e-statement to you, if you don't access the accounts online too often.
Set an alert in your mobile for the payment in time as it will be monthly affair.
Never ever diclose your CVV number to anyone.

I share Some Tips Here.Pay your credit card bills on time. This is the single most important thing you can do to preserve and enhance your credit rating. Always pay at least your minimum payment and allow time for your payment to reach the company if you are using the mail.If possible, pay off your balance in full each month. If this is not possible, then make as large a payment as you can comfortably afford. Paying off or paying down your balance is a sound financial move—one that will save you money on interest charges. If you can’t pay off your balance in full, then slow down on your credit card use for the next while. Take time to step back and have a careful look at how much you earn and how much you spend each month. A little budgeting can save you big money down the road.Check your statement carefully each month. Review your statement carefully. Do all the charges look correct? Have any required credits been applied? Are there any unusual or unexpected charges? Your credit card company will correct legitimate errors, but only if you bring them to their attention in a timely manner before you pay your bill.Use caution when giving your credit card number out on the phone or on the Internet. On the Internet, look for an Internet address that begins https:\\. The “s” indicates that it is a secure connection and a small padlock symbol should appear in the bottom right hand corner of your screen, indicating it is safe to transmit your credit card number.
