i am sick and tired of media and advertising portraying this perfect, thin, zitless, unhuman female image. especially when less then 5% of the female population looks like these models, actresses and singers anyway. all it does is make women feel like they arnt pretty enough or thin enough or whatever. its not right to make people feel bad about themselves to sell your products or services.and i think we have enough low self esteem and eating disorders .who gives the media the power to do this we do society does. we fall under there sugar coated airbrushed plastic surgery glitz and forget to love ourselves and each other just as we are so instead we follow along with the masses and lose a peice of our confidence little by little .

I agree with you, expecially considering that most people in the USA are overweight, so they are trying to make the majority of population feel bad about something they shouldn't...

I do think so to.
I compare how women looked like on tv in the 80s to how they look now and it's such a huge difference.
But i'm not talking about how the style.
I mean that now they are so much skinnier, alot with impants as well.
Back then you saw alot of natural women and with curves.
Its crazy when you take a look at the difference.
Makes me worry for my daughters, what will they think of themselves.

I do agree with you to a certain extent. I mean, something can only influence you if you pay attention to it. If you feel bad because of it, it's only because maybe deep down inside, you want to be like this. And its not just women and girls. Men also deal with insecurities. Some people just deal better than others.

I agree with you. There is an unhealthy image of starving women being pushed by the people who insist on models like this. It is not natural or healthy to be that skinny. A healthy woman should be rounded, with curves and hips. The narrow hipped women have trouble giving birth and the anorexic ones cannot conceive. I knew a girl at work who was anorexic and was unable to conceive until she gained some weight. The Doctor had to monitor her very carefully to make sure she continued to gain weight while pregnant in order to keep the baby healthy. We should have images of women who have "normal" figures such as size 12 or 14 not these size 8 ones. I do not even see the point of showing dresses on them when they just hand like a clothes hanger and do not show how the dress would look on the people who might buy it.
I have seen close up pictures of these women and they look like people dying of starvation. All bones, no shape. It is a bad image to give to the young.
