what if you own a dog with rabies

There isn't really a choice as they are going to die anyway. It's so sad, but keeping them alive is only risking people getting hurt and also keeping your dog suffering. It's an awful way to die. I would have to put my dog down as I wouldn't want it to suffer any more than it has to.

Killing would be the most prudent thing to do-remember, a rabbied dog doesnt know its owner-it may be the one to finish you off with rabies if you keepit around!

I am a dog person and loves dogs, but don't have one at this time. I don't know what technology is like for dogs, but if they had a cure for it and I had the money, I would much rather do that. If not, then I would have to put it down. Not only for the safety of others, but for the dog, rabies is horrible and I wouldn't want my dog to suffer and then die just because I didn't want to put it down in the first place..

As far as I know there's no way to cure rabies once it has started to show, so if it were mine, I'd have it put down. I'd definately hate doing it but keeping the dog alive would be cruel when it's an uncurable condition that the dog would suffer from and potentially also be dangerous to others.

If it would happen to my dog, I would first consult a vet if it is possible to cure my dog. If he says yes, then great, i would pay money to get my dog cured. But if he says no, it is sad but i will have him killed, that's the only way to stop his suffering and keeping him from endangering other people.

i would go and put the dog down... you cant keep a dog that has rabies no where.. you are not only causing harm to yourself but to others as well and thats not right.. alot of the times the animal that has rabies usually suffers...
