A wave of cats

Well, we've just had one of our coldest nights this year - supposed to get into the 20's. Still above freezing at 3 a.m., but only just....
Anyway, the house is pretty cold, I got chilled earlier in the day, the room at cat adoptions wasn't the warmest, I had put on a short sleeved shirt because when we got up it was warmer.... So, when the roomie & I got done with dinner, we'd been up for 13 hrs on 5 hrs of sleep. We were both cold, tired, and sated, so we went to our nice warm beds.
Well, 2:30 rolls around, the roomie gets up to put the dogs out for a potty - and to do the same, & I decided I need to roll over.
It was like a wave of cats lifted off me.
I have NO clue how many cats were sleeping on me, but I do know there had to be at LEAST 10. I only had 1 that didn't move (she was on the pillow over my head.)
Such nice babies to help keep mommy warm.

LOL Simba is like that whenever he's cold. He wants to be under our sweatshirts next to our skin. He plays for a while by poking his front paws out the neck and patting us on the face and will also poke his head out in peek-a-boo. Then he'll settle down for a nap.

The only 2 of my cats that tollerate being under the covers are Ping and Rygel. When Rygel gets under the covers, he is actually in the mood to play. He loves "mousie under the covers" so much that he gets under the covers & attacks things on top! Then he gets to BE the "mousie under the covers!" LOL
Ping will come under for a bit, but there's always that danger of Rygel discovering him there, and Ping DOESN'T want to be the "mousie."

LOL! You sound like me. If it's cold enough, I have LittleBit on top of me, Angel under the covers (right in the middle of my side of course), Prance wrapped around my head on the pillow, and Nemo curled up on my feet. Occasionally Fluffy will come in and join the pile up. But I can't complain....it makes me oh so warm and snuggly! LOL! Keep enjoying your "cat blanket" hon.

Yep! Most definitely a full cat blanket there. LittleBit is so funny when I go to turn over. She's like one of those circus performers that's "walking" on the rolling ball to stay on top of it. She just keeps walking until I get settled, and then she lays back down on me.

Well, I had Sassy on the pillow over my head; 2 or 3 cats above the waist in front of me (I'm a side sleeper); one on top of me; another around my hip; and 3 or 4 around my feet. There is even a slim chance of a 5th down there since I can't feel the entire end of the bed when my legs are pinned down....

What a lovely story. It sure sounds cold...brrr. You draw a delightful picture too. I can't imagine that sort of cold nor can I imagine so many cats on my bed....lol.
Being cats I'm sure it wasn't your comfort they were thinking of...but it's a nice thought. You wouldn't need artificial heating with all those bodies creating warmth..what an energy saving! LOL.

Cold? How about 8" of snow and still coming down. I gave up on my paper routes and came home. The plows can't keep up with the main roads let alone go down the back roads. Your cats were not only keeping you warm but they were staying warm huddling together on the blanket. lol My one kitten has already worked his way under my sweatshirt to get warm and is now sleeping on the bed with Tigger.

Luv, I know its colder in other places, but us Texans ain't use to it!
I know the cats were staying warm on the bed too, it was just funny cause I could see them going off - like a wave - when I rolled over.
We keep a light on over the range in the kitchen (the better to not step in something you wouldn't want to step in) (yes, it is a compact floresent bulb) so I can see in the room, even when my lights are out.

Yes, cats are great hot water bottles, and you never have to get up to refill them with hot water. Back in the days when we had 3 cats, they used to sleep on our bed and keep us warm in the winter months. Thankfully, during summer, they only slept at the foot of the bed.

And you have to love the way they always seem to know when you are sick. It's like they try to be the nurse for a while! lol.

What a great way to keep the heating bills down, just get enough of cats to sleep with you.
My cats liked to sleep with me, but there were only two of them at most...except for some kitties of course.
I am going to have many cats one day..hehe..!:)

I loved the picture that popped into my head as I read this post. What a lovely way to stay warm. I love your avatar here. Cats are such adorable pets. You and your roomy must have huge caring hearts. I love to hear about people that care for animals as you do. Thanks for the beautiful post.

hehe..
Little furries keeping you warm..
I don't have mine on my bed anymore because it gives me muscle spasms if they climb on me and lay while I am asleep and they do not want to just sleep with me ..they think they have to be on me...Another one of those fibro things!

I am sort of stuck with them sleeping with me, other wise they sit outside the door & yowl!
I can tell you, that meeting some of you guys on mylot I've learned how my fibro is pretty mild. I'm seldom in so much pain I can't get around, and I know there are others who are so much worse.

Oh my, memory lane here for me. When I used to have a lot more cats, I could never be sure how many slept with me and of course I wasn't allowed to move one inch without getting nasty looks, as if to say "how dare you move and disturb me" So I'd stay put, sleeping like a pretzel, and having numb arms or legs from lack of circulation. Now I just have my two, but geez, I still sleep like a pretzel, and I still can't move...uh, but on chilly nights I don't complain as they do keep their mum warm :)
