Most of eastern Canada and the US are experiencing a massive storm system this weekend. We are expecting 2 feet (60 cm) of snow today. I know that this will definitely affect our plans for the day. We will likely not be able to leave the house today. This is inconvenient, since I use my weekend time for meal planning and shopping, and yesterday we focused on Christmas shopping. I guess we will have to focus on housecleaning and the laundry, and of course, mylot, for today. What is the weather like where you are today? Is it affecting your daily activities?

Here in New Jersey it is cold, windy and rainy. The weather is all around depressing. I don't want to even leave the house. Last night there was freezing rain too.
I can't wait for summer to get here again! I hate cold weather! Thank goodness I am going South for Christmas! Yay!

I agree, I can't wait for summer too! Congratulations on going South for Christmas! Will it be tropical?

It's times like this when I really appreciate living in a tropical country. Where I am right now the weather is perfect. Not too cold, not too hot, very little rain. Absolutely no snow, so our daily activities are normal.

Yes, indeed, if I lived in a tropical country now, I would feel the same way. I will be visiting a warm, tropical country sometime this winter, and I know it will lift my spirits immediately - especially if we experience as brutal a winter as we are expecting and have been experiencing.

I'm in Ontario and darn it's not stopping over here! I"m not sure how we're going to take our car out of it's parking space tomorrow.
It's not really affecting our plans because they didn't include getting out today.
We heard the storm was coming so we rented a few videos and are making a day of it :) We did all our grocery shopping yesterday while things weren't bad and as for Christmas shopping whatever we were going to do it's already done - it's not going to be much this year anyways.
I'm taking a break from video watching right now so I came here .
It's pretty outside - as long as all I need to do is looking out - going out however is not an option until later on when we go out with our dog again :)

Yes, I'm in Ottawa Ontario and I'm getting nervous about how we are going to dig out the car for work tomorrow. Your foresight is admirable - doing the grocery shopping and renting videos. I didn't bother checking the weather and was completely preoccupied with Christmas shopping yesterday. We spent all afternoon and evening completing my part of the Christmas list. If I had checked the weather, I would have tacked on the grocery run and been in a better position for the week today.

To be fair I don't always check the weather LOL But this time it started with someone saying that a storm might be coming so I checked it a bit more, and then make my plans just in case it was as bad as they were saying.
As for the car, I"m really not sure if we'll be able to take it out tomorrow, it's not looking any better hehehehe

My boss gave me a ton of work at 4:30 pm on Friday (I have a 9-5 job) and said that it needed to be done by Monday at 9, so I stayed at work till 10 pm on Friday night. I guess when I woke up on Saturday morning I wasn't thinking of the weather, and I wasn't lucky enough to hear any weather reports beforehand.

Yes, we are working on housecleaning a lot today. If we can get out at all, I'd like to get some ingredients for a lasagna for my daughter's lunches this week, and I'd like to get a head start on the christmas baking. My daughter likes to give baked goods to the family for christmas.

We had a nor easter this morning and I usually take pictures of snow storms to send to my daughter in California but today I can't even open the front door to the building! lol....As soon as the maintenance guy get's out there I will be on the porch with my camera. The only thing I won't be able to do today that I had planned to do is run to the store for a couple of things. I guess it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Thing is, we're going to work tomorrow. Even 2 feet of snow doesn't prevent us from going to work! This is Canada! I expect the plows will be working overtime through the night, and I'll be expected at my 9 am meeting in the morning, bright eyed and bushy tailed!

two feet?? wow! haha. i live in kentucky and the whole beginning of last week they were predicting the snow storm for us too..but yesterday all we got was rain instead. and all through the night. right now it's snowing..but barely sticking at all. the wind is insane though!! gusts up to 40mph. where i live there's a big hill with a forest on top of it behind my house and i was watching it this morning around 830am and watched a tree fall down. major gusts out there. not really affecting my day though, i wasn't planning on doing anything..i knew the weather wouldn't be great this weekend. haha.

We are getting a lot of wind too. So far I haven't seen any falling trees though. The news earlier said there were 3 deaths attributable to the storm

The storm wasnt nearly as bad here as it was suppose to be by any means..or maybe its just that being Canadian I'm use to seriously crappy winter weather and here in the U.S its just not as severe to me.....In any case the weather Sat night and Sunday didnt slow my gfs and I down at all (some gfs from Canada came up for the weekend) LOL we went out and partied Sat and everyone made it home Sunday so it was all good....

Glad to hear the weather didn't interfere with your plans this weekend. Yes, I find as Canadians we are used to some pretty awful weather. This weekend was no exception here. Just being outside, walking, driving around were made serously difficult by the severe weather.

Well I live in South Bend Indiana and we have about 8 inches of snow. We really got hit saturday overnight but it is not going to affect my travel plans at all. We are supposed to have a good week with not much snow.

Today it is Cold but sunny in Florida. This morning at 6:00 AM it was around 37 degrees. We got a lot of wind and some fallen trees this past weekend from the storm. Lots of debris in the yards. I'm just happy we don't get any snow. It will warm up today and hopefully get back into the 70's by this weekend. Sure feel sorry for those who live in the northern part of the USA they are seeing lots of snow and some have been without electricity for 6 days.
Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays to you too!
I'm glad the weather is improving. It's certainly fortunate that you didn't get snow, I know that a lot of us up north rely on Floridian crops during the winter months. I certainly hope that those who have suffered through a long power outage can have their power restored as quickly as possible.

the weather here in the tropics is rainy!
just the monsoon season. it doesn't snow here ever, but the rain does make things inconvenient.
but at least i don't have to shovel. and i walk everywhere now armed with an umbrella because the showers can be sudden and very heavy.
i do love looking at snow and watching flakes fall. but 2 feet sounds like A LOT. all the best there!

We ended up getting about 1.3 feet(37 cm) by Monday morning. Most people made it into work on Monday morning, and strangely, the drive in this morning (Tuesday) seemed slower. When we got to work on Monday, the parking lot was not even plowed, so it was difficult to get a parking space. However, as you say, the sights and sounds of snow are really amazing. Just getting from one building to another was really difficult, because we rely on paths, and of course, even by the end of the day, the paths were not cleared. I fell twice just trying to walk through without the cleared path on Monday!

Hot and muggy can definitely make you feel tired. That's definitely not like the weather here! With the intense cold we have here, I have to admit that I miss the warm weather, even hot and muggy weather.

I probably won't get any sympathy but a cold front has come through and we had rain last night and it only got to the low 60's today! It's been 80's lately and we actually had to put on weathers. I do miss the snow.

The snow really is special, it's just that mother nature can be deadly! And when it gets like this, it can get really scary just to get to the end of the block! I envy you the temperature you are getting, but I know that a drop of 20 degrees is really significant from what you are used to!

I know that the weather this weekend certainly caused me to postpone any activities that involved any kind of displacement outside! I eventually did venture outside, but not beyond the neighbourhood grocery store, and on the way there and back we passed many stuck and/or stalled vehicles!

I live on the SouthEast side of Lake Erie (in Ohio) and we've been having a blizzard all day! The roads are SO bad that there's hardly any cars going by, and I live on a state highway. Did it change any of my plans? Yes, I was going to go out and clean the dog kennel and do some outside work, and the wind's whipping so bad I decided it can wait another day. I also decided not to go anywhere and just hibernate and bake cookies lol. Unfortunately, my daughter's an EMT and has to drive ambulance in this mess, it's not the type of job where you can change your mind and stay home lol.

Wow I applaud your decision to stay home today! Here there also were few cars on the road, and many that were, were stalled, stuck or out of control! I did decide to go grocery shopping but thankfully I took the van. Even so, I had to turn off the radio so I could listen to the engine, I didn't want to spin the wheels excessively and harm the engine. I heard a lot of sirens today, so I imagine with the weather you are having, your daughter will have been busy today. I wish her safety and health on such a difficult day.

Since we got a lot of ice last night, the roads here are still kind of iffy even though the storm has been over for several hours. Now, things are still covered in ice and it's extremely windy. I'm talking about rattling the windows, windy. Mom wanted to go shopping today since it was her birthday, but we just stayed in because of the weather. No use risking lives just to go shopping.

Best to stay off the roads when the weather is that treacherous. And the wind would not help on icy roads, either. Hope your Mom had a good birthday!

Happy Holidays to you too! Luckily our street was plowed by 6 pm, and our neighbour with a snowblower came over and did everybody's driveway. We were so grateful, we baked him some cookies and my husband, daughter and I delivered them earlier this evening.
