I remember my sons first christmas last year.
He was 7 months old and he enjoyed opening all his presents aswell as playing with the wrapping paper, lol.
Last year we had to take him with us to buy his presents, which wasn't that bad because he didn't completly understand the reason we were buying so many.
This year he understands it completly though, so we are having to be extra careful this year.
He enjoyed looking at all the christmas decorations last year because it filled the room with all different colours.
His 1st christmas was very special.

Sounds wonderful, a nice first year. Its cute how you refer to yourself as joey's wife - does he do the same with your name and husband?

i do remember the first christmas of our first child. we were very broke, and had not too much money to spend, but we did manage to get him a teddy bear, and a couple of little things. we put him under the tree in his little infant seat, with his 3 toys and took his picture. i look at that picture now (26 years later), and think to myself how lucky we were and how totally in love and happy we were then. no money but so in love. Now, we have enough money to live comfortably, and this year under the tree with many presents will be his first son. And we are still so in love. 3 children and now a grandson. Life cannot get much better than this. Merry christmas!

We are having the same first Christmas, we just moved - to a great place, much less expensive but much sweeter - a community with a shared garden and a lot of animals. We have no money this month though, so no present, tree, trimmings or Christmas dinner (its a very Ramen Christmas, the best time of the year) - yet its THE best Christmas so far we've ever had. We love our one year old son and feel he's the best Christmas present we'll ever had - although my husbands brother is buying him the new PS2 - I want to ask to change it to an equivelent gift certificate to babies R' us but that's kinda rude and I'm sure my husband doesn't want his family to know how much we're struggling this month.
Next month will be better and the next even better - in fact the reason we moved off base is to be able visit my mom often - she has cancer and has never met her grandson so in February we should be able to do just that.
Anyway, our blessings this first Christmas are many, and we are thankful for each and everyone of them!
BTW I love your story - how you were very much in love although very poor - well poor financially that is! In other ways you were - and are - quite wealthy!

I know I can because my oldest son is 2 weeks before Christmas. My son is the first grandson that my mom had and I looked at it as if he was the BEST Christmas present I had and my mom. Hes now 14 years old. It seems like it was yesterday.

My baby was born about three weeks and a few days before Christmas - which is why I consider this his first Christmas - he was asleep most of the time before. We're going to neighbors houses and he's enjoying their trees and trimmings. He is totaly the BEST Christmas present I've ever had. I can't wait until he meets my mom! It seems like a long time ago - a year - and like yesterday to me.

I feel the same - about my child more then myself. I would sacrifice my life for his if I had too. My son is one this Christmas - one and a few weeks. And I'm so glad he's bigger and sturdier. I can't wait till he's talking up a storm!

My son's first Christmas was spent with his paternal grandparents. It was really nice and special. My ex's parents went all out decorating, more so than they normally did (they stopped going all out when he moved away, unless he was going to be home for Christmas). He got lots of presents from his grandparents, aunts and uncles. For me, the best present was having a son and seeing his face light up at the lights and tree. He wasn't really into the presents though. His first Christmas was also the only year we got a picture of him with Santa.

We went over to our landlady/neighbor/friends mother for a tree trimming party so my son was able to see his a huge christmas tree being decorated. He loved it and all the people. And my neighbors have three mini trees, he likes to look at them. And we went to something wonderful called River of Lights - it was at the bio park and they have lights that are animated - animals, trains, elves etc - he loved it!
Next year we'll have a tree and trimmings, christmas fare and lotsov presents. He's only one so he won't remember this one too much anyway. If he does, he'll remember being very well loved!
