Actually the book is essentially the screen play for the movie. I believe they changed two lines for the movie, because the original dialogue in the book was too offensive for American audiences.
Other than the minor dialogue changes the movie and the book are identical.

In the movie it was more defined rather than in the book, because visually and the way movie directed and performance shows how each charater is, in the book it was mixing up, so i would say in the movie it was defined better

The book was better, because it offered a lot more intellectual insight to the reader ,the movie did a good job of allowing the audience into it's world, but the book really lets you inside everyone's head. I also feel the movie didn't portray Tyler's end all be all vision for the world very well, and generally, I believe to attain consciousness of the human animal is very important.

I feel that the director did an EXCELLENT job interpeting the book, and the movie had a few slight changes from the book itself which I appreciated a LOT.
First, The narrator meets Tyler in a different way in the book, and, of course, it ends differently as well. However, I like the way he meets Tyler in the book better than he does in the movie, but I like the way the movie ends better than I liked it in the book. So strongly suggest giving it a read, not only is a quick one but it's also a good thinker, and has a lot of philosophical theories that can really get you goin. Good luck to you!

I have read it, and im nowhere near disappointed =]
The book was simply amazing, it was even more cynical and scary than the movie. I did however like the ending to the movie better, because i feel it gave a better sense of closure...

yes, I completely agree! It brought everything together in the movie more than in the book. The ending of the book I must admit is much more tragic because he never rids himself of his demons, they just seem to get worse. But the movie he gets control over himself once more. But the way he meets Tyler in the book, I feel is SO amazing, because just one moment IS all you can expect out of perfection, it's just So thought provoking! I love it!
