I have been using firefox 2 as my browser for a long time. I love it,but it has some serious performance issues. But still I used it because internet explorer 6 and other browsers were not even close to this when it comes to features and customizations. Now that IE7 has been released, I am thinking about switching to it in order to save some RAM. Is it a good idea??

IE7 is also a quite good browser. However, if we are going to compare Firefox from IE, Firefox is much secured to use when compared to IE7.
If you would mind, you can also try Opera, which basically is the same with Firefox. This can be downloaded for free at www.opera.com :-)

i.e. had used both the browsers and let me tell you Firefox is far better than Internet Explorer seven. Don't try to install it if you don't have it and if it hadn't try to avoid it. The Firefox is a very good trouser and it can be very handy with its wide range of plug-ins the only problem is that sometimes it is not compatible to the websites. But frankly speaking it is not your mistake it is the web designer who has designed the website and is not compatible to your browser. In such cases yes you have to switch back to Internet Explorer but then such sites are very real. So it is the best deal to browse the net with Firefox and have a happy experience thank you

firefox all the way. i has tested IE7 before and I can say it ran slower than my firefox. biggest problem is that as mentioned, some sites only support IE. But I got that solved by getting a plugin called IE tab. with this plugin, I can view any website using IE settings so it runs fine.

I am not sure of this.
But I do prefer Firefox more than IE,
IE7 is like having a look without the real stuff, I don't know but I never have good experience when I using IE7.
I just use it sometimes, to browse those website that only support IE...
