Since I was a kid I really like photography. But I was not given the chance to develop my skills regarding on this. My parents were not really that supportive on this idea. But now that I am far away from them I want to pursue what I really like since childhood. The interest in photography has never left my heart. So, guys I am just starting on this. I want to ask some advice from you, especially those who have advanced knowledge on photography to sahre something to me about this art.even just a little. Whta should I suppose to do, if im just starting?

Hi, I am not really into photography, but, I love taking pictures and I assess usually the lights whenever I see a nice picture. I guess, the basic is to choose your subject. Try to take different shots with the lights-play. Try angle using different kinds of lights (white light, sunlight, with flash or non). I try reading photography books to atleast get some ideas. In Metro Manila, you can have photography class, try this link: http://shutter.box.com.ph/2007/08/. Anyways, my friends who are into photography have tried Ayala Foundation's photography class. :)

You did not say if you had a camera or not and if you did what kind. I will assume that you do not have a camera and would suggest that you start out with a prosumer digital camera. This has many of the features of a Digital Single Lens Reflex Camera (DSLR) at a lower cost. For a new model it will run you up to $500,
BUT, BUT you can save considerable money if you buy one that is a year or two old. For example I have a Canon Powershot S5 that I use as a carry around camera and back up to my DSLR and it takes great shots. New you could buy this camera for about $350. If that is too expensive for you you could go with a Refirbrished camera and save between $50 and $100. You could also try for an older model for about $290 or less if you check out ebay. You would still be buying a new camera that would meet most of your needs. What you don't get is more megapixesl and a larger LCD viewing screen. The difference between the S5 and the S3 that I havefound are 8 mp vs 6mp, 2" vs 2.5" LCD Display and high ISO 800 vs 1600.
For someone not doing professional work and not looking at printing posters size prints the S3 would be fin andmuch cheeper. The S3 will give you great photos and give you a chance to grow into your camera as many of the settings will be similar as you move up to a DSLR.
You will need to buy a couple of large media cards and you are read to take lots of photos. Good luck.

Dear mj_jabez, I appreciate your interest in photography. You should have started on this subject long time back. Everybody does not have the burning sensation to do certain job. Since you are possessed with photography start immediately. You do not need anybody's advice on this subject. It is in you. Good luck
