Who Do You Trust?

When it comes to learning the facts about any one given thing, who and/or what do you trust to reveal that information? When it comes to global warming, I am biased to the recorded information and the experts who directly participated in the recording of that information. Al Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have told us that there is reason to be alarmed about human activity creating global warming. They have purported severe, disastrous results across the globe if we do not cut back/out CO2 contributions into the atmosphere. Well with that kind of dire forecast, I had to see the research for myself. Here are just a few of the sources I came across.

The results from non-governmental/political organizations present quite a differing view. So my question is who do we trust on this issue? A governmental agency and a politician's opinion or the scientists and scientific organizations that have no political agenda's measured results?

Here's another link to help out.
http://hadobs.metoffice.com/hadcrut3/diagnostics/global/nh+sh/
This takes you to a page at the Hadley Center for Meterological Studies in the UK, one of the world's leading research centers in this field.
At this page is a link to the dataset from which the charts are created. If you can program a little get those numbers and do some analysis of your own.
I've done that already. Long story short. The global warming alarmists are full of it.

Indeed they are! The biggest problem I've noticed though, even here on the Lot, is how many people have been buffaloed by this hogwash. It appears the majority of our society believes this poo. Even our local electric utility now has radio spots talking about how to help cut down on global warming. This is disgusting! An outfit with more than enough power and finances to find the truth is now promoting this garbage! Now even more people will believe this crap because a major utility says it's true. HELP!!

HELP!, indeed.
I'll give you one little bit of information that will help convince a few people.
One of the pioneering companies in this whole global warming, carbon credits scams was ENRON!
Yes, the major scamming fradulant criminal ENRON. That ENRON. They were completely in favor of believing all this man made global warming big time. They were planning on investing, speculating, and trading carbon credits.
Today, many utility companies have similar plans. No one need give them any credance as they have a conflict of interest. Utility companies are not disinterested parties in the man made global warming controversy.

The only things that I think the global warming alarmists are going to accomplish are to reduce pollution a bit and reduce the amount of oil we use, which are a good things. I am sure that the CO2 in the atmosphere is not a good thing, but if you lool back at all the times the earth has gone through ice ages and mini ice ages and then re- meltings I just don't know if they really know what they are talking about.
When the Indians had control of North and South America and other areas of the world, the scientists said that much of their areas were covered in smoke because of their slash and burn techniques. They would burn off miles of old areas and then move on. Apparently the smoke would hang over the land much like the smog does now only worse and that was full of CO2. A mini ice age followed that era, not global warming.
I think as responsible human beings we should treat this beautiful gift that we have been lent a lot better than we have so far. We should stop polluting it and clean up what we have messed up. But I do not think that we should go into a panic.

I absolutely agree with you on cleaning up our act. POLLUTION is a major problem we have as a society. As far as the CO2, it is the least harmful/reactive of the three other alleged "global warming" gases. And with all four of these gases comprising only 5% of the warming gases, it is a complete waste of time, energy and effort focusing any resources on their management and/or elimination. I say get back to focusing on what is the real threat (pollution) and leave the scare tactics to Freddy Kruger.

IMO, he who has nothing to gain either way is the guy telling the truth.
Simple 4th grade earth science.
The sun is a star.
Stars burn hotter and hotter until they eventually burn out or explode into smithereens.
This goes for all stars, including the one in our solar system.

Isn't it great?! Only 4 scientists comprised Gore's consensus. I love watching B.S. fall from the sky! Maybe we will finally hear the last from Mr. Potato e head! Can't get much more discredited than this! For another great read:

the earth naturaly has gone through these phases several times in geological history so i think they are all scare mongoring and do not know if they are right or wrong.
if global warming is a manmade result, then it is the fault of all these cows farting night and day!

There is another informative site for you. One you may not have com across in your research. www.globalwarming.org The tag line in Reasoned thinking from cooler heads, It chronicles research and interviews from current back to 2004. At least thats as far as I read. Pretty interesting opinions.

Thanks! I had not come across this one yet. I love finding out how much hogwash this GW panic is! Like a few of us here on the Lot remember from school, the sun runs the temperature of the planet, the elliptical orbit of the Earth runs the seasons and the varying temps., and the ocean regulates the water vapor and CO2 content in the air. Basic Earth science. Amazing that anyone fell for Gore's gore.
