When I had my ferrets I even had Christmas stocking for them that I attached to their cage and would fill with their favorite goodies on Christmas Eve. Then I would have a gift wrapped for each of them to open on Christmas morning. Spoiled? Yes they were!

That is so cute. I have only ever had dogs as pets but I totally understand that other kinds of pets have their own personalities too. What sort of things did they get as gifts?
We take a photo each year of our dogs, one has a funny little santa suit with hat, the other one has a pair of gold angel wings. The one who wears the angel wings always sulks in the photos, my kids say it is because she KNOWS that it said it was for a cat on the packet.

Heating pad or hot water bottle. Maybe one of those bean bags that you put in the microwave would be safest. I am pretty sure that their insides are non toxic as they are beans or rice usually. So if the dog happens to manage to get the thing open it wouldn't be dangerous or messy. Water bottle might leak and heating pad electricity is scary. Those heating bags stay warm a long time, I use one myself.
Usually I give my dog a few rawhides or other toys.

I do. I usually get him a stuffed toy, a chew toy, and special treats. I can't put them under the tree because he always manages to find them and open them before Christmas. Watching him rip the paper off is adorable.
