Spaghetti and meatballs?
Meatball subs?
Swedish meatballs?
Meatballs in some other sauce?
I've had them in some sort of barbecue sauce concoctions. I've even heard of mixing grape jelly in there somewhere.
I am trying to think of how to make meatballs tonight.
Normally I use spaghetti sauce.
I have three small cans of tomato sauce and half a bottle of barbecue sauce. I was tempted to mix them together but I don't think they would blend together very well. What do you think?
Do you have a favorite meatball recipe?

mmmm savory meatballs!
I sometimes put them in spaghetti sauce but usually use a ground meat sauce or sausages or even pieces of pork or beef steak.
I like sweedish meatballs or meatballs in barbeque, or even sweet and sour sauced meatballs - simmering in the crock pot....
I like porcupine meatballs maybe with a bit of beef gravy over top served on a bed of rice
I really like a good ol meatball hoagie - toasted hoagie roll with meatballs, sauteed peppers and onions, a little drizzle of marinara sauce and some mozzerella cheese - put this in some foil - wrapping the foil up the sides of the roll - but leaving the top exposed so that the meat will get sizzling and the cheese melted -
oh man is this good on a cold night.

I usually do meatball subs. And I use pizza sauce to cook them in. I make the meatballs from scratch, but use canned pizza sauce. I usually brown the meatballs a little in the oven, and then put them in the crockpot with a can or two of pizza sauce and cook them on low for about 4 hours. They are yummy that way!
Then the next day, or two days later, I use the leftover meatballs and sauce to make pizza pasta. I just throw them in with some cooked noodles, cheese, mushrooms, and pepperoni, and heat it all up in the oven until the cheese is bubbly. That's Elliott's current favorite food.

I think you could use the ingredients you have on hand, but maybe without putting in all of the barbecue sauce. I've never met a meatball I didn't like, but my favorite ones have some instant brown rice mixed in to give them a little more substance. The rice would cut down on the salt a bit, too.

The grape jelly thing is grape jelly mixed with chili sauce. It makes a really nice sauce for meatballs at a party, the kind you grab out of the dish with a toothpick. The sauce is sweet, tart and spicy -- it's really delicious.
When I'm making meatballs for dinner, I usually just do spaghetti and meatballs or meatball subs. I don't do swedish meatballs, can't stand them.

the grape jelly recipe is always a hit. I hate the frozen meatballs, gotta make them homemade. Yum a meatball sub with provolone cheese sounds great right now!

They are really awesome in VH honey garlic sauce, I just add a little flour/water mixture to it after it is boiling (like you would with gravy) to thicken it up a little bit, and oo its amazing if you like honey garlic. and i LOVE honey garlic, especially when i am pregnant! lol.
I have also had them in bbq sauce and they are good too. Mm meatballs.

I love to make meatballs for dinner and my family loves them too. You can make them so many differnt ways and almost tailor them to use whatever you have in the house. Last night I made them for dinner the way that is my daughter's favorite. I just used some ground beef, an egg, some seasonings and then some instant rice, mixed it together and browned the meatballs in a frying pan. After that I just use tomato soup and pour it over the top and bake them at 350 degrees for about a half an hour.

Meatball Sandwich
INGREDIENTS
* 1 pound ground beef
* 3/4 cup bread crumbs
* 2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
* 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
* 1 egg, beaten
* 1 French baguette
* 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
* 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1 pinch salt, or to taste
* 1 (14 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
* 4 slices provolone cheese
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. In a medium bowl, gently mix by hand the ground beef, bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic, parsley, Parmesan cheese, and egg. Shape into 12 meatballs, and place in a baking dish.
3. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until cooked through. Meanwhile, cut the baguette in half lengthwise, and remove some of the bread from the inside to make a well for the meatballs. Brush with olive oil, and season with garlic powder and salt. Slip the baguette into the oven during the last 5 minutes of the meatball's time, or until lightly toasted.
4. While the bread toasts, warm the spaghetti sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. When the meatballs are done, use a slotted spoon to transfer them to the sauce. Spoon onto the baguette and top with slices of provolone cheese. Return to the oven for 2 to 3 minutes to melt the cheese. Cool slightly, cut into servings, and enjoy!
