My God I have found something that makes me so happy. I have started to breed chinchillas. I breed them for pets and not coats. People ask me all the time when I take one or two of mine to like HomeDepot, "Do they bite?" I would just tell them only if you talk about fur coats around them. If you know me you know that I am a gay male and my lover's name is Jay. Well, when we got our first boy chinchilla he started to talk about fur coats around him and the chinchilla (Chilly bit him twice). That will teach him. LOL! I would like to know if anyone else is breeding chinchillas and if so, I would like to know some of your storys. If you don't breed chinchillas, would you buy one as a pet? I thank they make great pets.

I would take one as a pet. They are cute, I had a friend who had one growing up. That's a bad story though.. poor little thing chewed threw an electrical wire, and needless to say their house caught fire, and they couldn't find the poor little thing. Her name was April.
On a happier note, I think its really cool how they bath in the sand! How much do you sell each of those for ?

When I adopt out my chinchillas I charge a $140.00 fee. Sorry about the word play, I just don't like to say sell them. If you don't watch chinchillas, yes they love the rubber on electrical wire. I keep mine in a cage in the living room where I can take them out any time I want. I also take them on vacation with me or when I go out to the store that allow pets. The only problem I have with sand thing is that if you are not careful, like the beach it gets everywhere. One of my chinchillas (Willy) keeps trying to steal my gold earring, he is a brat.
