When you say "I LOVE YOU", do you really mean it?

The I LOVE YOU word is the most used, over-used and abused word in the dictionary.People who establish relationship to others tend to use this word repeatedly and yet in the worst time they're gone leaving their loved ones on their own to evade sufferings, commitment and all the like. The magic word is often used too to scheme others as well as to consume their passion to their prey. And when the victim gets deeply involved, they say goodbye without warning...Of course not all behaved like my examples, but in the real world if one is not cautious an encounter to deceiving and cunning people will tear others heart.
So, when you say "I LOVE YOU", do you mean it from the bottom of your heart or is just an expression to get what you want? Mylotters, kindly share your thoughts on this.

I always truly mean it from the bottom of my heart. The people that I hold close to my heart are told that I love them often so that they will always feel loved. By doing this, I get lots of love in return.

I first said that words on the way I sent her home. They come out really from the bottom of my heart. Then she told me "I like you not to the extent".Since then I never said that again,I am always waiting for a girl who I can say that to.

If a girl don't love you ,even if you say that words, she will not love you.I really want to tell someone, but if it's the wrong one ,it means nothing. So I am waiting ,for the right one.

I've never told anybody that I loved them to get something. I think that would be just...bad. :/
But, I'm sure I've told a friend, etc, that I loved them when I didn't fully mean it. But, you don't really think about it at the time. You're talking to them over the phone, or writing them, and before leaving you say, "Love ya", or something, even if you don't mean it from the bottom of your heart. I think the term "being in love" and just "love" in general has become such a broad aspect, which is a shame, because it used to really mean something.

That's why it tends to be abused unnoticed too! Then the sacred meaning is lost!

When the time will come that you will say it, hope and pray that it is reciprocated.
Goodluck!

I say I love you to my family & friends whom I really love.I don't misuse it.But is expressing one's love to a pet by saying I love you meaningless?

I mean it with all my heart. We may be hurt in the process. We may love truly the person to whom we say that ... but not get the same in return, at least we learned how to love truly. Its a great experience and at the end, whatever happens, we become stronger and learn from our experinces to become a better person.

Yes, I make sure that I only say that to a girl that I truly love, because it's not fair to say it if it's not true. I wouldn't want even the most beautiful girl in the world to tell me she loves me if it's not real. I don't want to be in a fake relationship.

i feel that love should have meant to be factor. that actually confessing it is the last step. what happens before you feel compelled to is more important

Make sense. Feeling first would transmit it to our neurons in the brain and so while the seat of emotions in our brain interprets it then it give a signal, then it is uttered through words.

I know that a lot of people use the words, "I Love You" for a lot of reasons other then that is what is in their hearts. I however, stick to using it because it is true. I feel it is important to share love if you have it, and not to lie just to make someone feel better. And deception deeper then trying to make someone feel better is one of the worst things that can be done out there.

Yes I agree,"I LOVE YOU" word has lost its original meaning of passion and dedication nowadays and this is because of this consumer culture world. Most of the time people use this word for getting something materialistic, either cash or kind.Nowadays love means costly gifts, physical relationship and befooling your friend.
But no depth,no caring and no sacrifice.

I always mean it when I say 'I love you.' but sometimes it might mean as just friends. I love my friends deeply and would do almost anything for them. Now, if I say 'love ya' that is a different story. When I am going through rough times with a boyfriend and am thinking about breaking up with them I usually end my online conversations or written conversations with them in 'love ya' instead of 'I love you'. Sometimes it gives them a hint. I try to avoid saying it all together in verbal communication. But once they are ok having me as just a friend, I can say 'I love you.' again as long as they know it means as just a friend.
Love ya. Haha.

If you don't mind - is it based on your experienced? Have someone told you before he/she love you but doesn't really mean it. Harsh!!!
When I say I love you - I really do. For me, its so hard to tell you love a person if you really don't. Besides you'll know it - if someone tells you I love you yet he/she lies. You'll feel the sincerity deep within.
I guess people who fooled others by saying they love them - but just pretending they do. They are really sick. They don't deserve to be happy or perhaps they have experience same thing and getting even by doing same on other people. Pity those kinds!!!
But you know what, If you'll ever find someone like this. Teach her/him how to really love someone with no expectations - not waiting for any returns. Unconditional love - as they say. Somehow these people will realize the true/real meaning of love by saying I Love you.
Godbless!

Wow, a very thorough in-depth explanation of the real meaning of saying "I LOVE YOU".
Several times I've been broken hearted by irresponsible people who say such words. But as time went by, I learned from past mistakes and God had blessed me with a very loving hubby with UNCONDITIONAL LOVE indeed!

Why are those 3 words questioned by so many people? If you said to someone, "I Hate You", would they ask if you really mean it? I say I Love You to my wife every day, and I mean it each and every time. If you have love for someone, whats wrong with telling them.

I love this response.Very reassuring, it meant a lot to the recipient of such love that LOVE indeed is TRUE and existing.Like a partner giving hugs and kisses to his or her partner daily, the nourishment of the love relationship goes an extra mile every time the word is exchange and expressed honestly.
Thank you for your sharing mcjustin.
