Last year at this time I started a discussion on the rise of a barrel of oil when it peaked at $75 before loweing to $58.75 and i was complaining that the cost per gallon to us was still high.I laugh now as prices are over $90 and closing in on $100 a barrel!A 100 % increase in less than 2 years??Hard to believe that one year ago is now part oif "the good old days"

Amazing how gas prices keep going up, people are being forced to pick between gas or food and yet Exxon/Mobil posts billions of dollars in profits in one year. Amazing how people like me who drive 100 miles a day are the ones hurting while companies like Exxon/Mobil are giving their retiring CEOs and COOs 400 Million in pay, stock options and stock shares. Amazing how Iraqi leaders who own the oil fields can drive around in cars made of pure silver and the rest of us cringe when we pull up to the gas pump and the number rises above $50 knowing that tank of gas will last only a week, maybe 8 days. Amazing how our income has not gone up to match the rise in gas/heating oil prices and yet no one at the gas companies or the governments want to do anything about it. The gas taxes average about $1-1.50 per gallon. If the government really wanted to help, slash it in half.

And remember that when the govt figures out the rate of inflation, the rise of gas prices is NOT included as it is too volitile. Those on pensions fall further behind as a greater % of their income is used on transportation. Isn't it amazing how the oil companies(as well as the banks and utility companies) continue to ask for increases while making record profits?
