What is the Best Scam-free way to earn money from your Blog?

I am so confused. I read dozens of posts that tell me to exchange links; write articles; payperposting or clicks. I need baby steps in laymen's terms. I'm looking for that guidebook that gives me step for step directions.

I wish I could help you with blogging. I haven't been doing it very long. I signed up with blogcatalog and get some blog readers from there but, I don't really think I have gotten any referrals from there to any of my programs.
