I know I have mentioned a couple of times my disorder OCD. For those of you that do not know what that is, it's Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. My disorder pertains to me thinking thoughts obsessively all the time. You can say that "Jesus is coming in a week." and I will literally think my self into insomnia that whole time until the fear of thought goes away. I was recently looked at funny and an older woman told me that if I had been like that 50+ years ago they would have locked me up in an institute. I don't harm anyone and I don't tell my thoughts outloud, so it's not a threatning thing. What is your opinion? Do you have a disorder that people down you for, or even alienate you? Just wondering. I am having a bad 4 days now.

Everybody alive has OCD. I did not meet anyone carefree, not to have any worries. I've been working in a local hospital doing office work, and I got very diappointed in the nurses for having this disorder. Last Summer, one of the nurses, just because I've been waiting for her in her office to hand her a paperwork, when she came back she started to scream in fear and ran away screaming, though she knew me in a long time. Finally, she recognized my voice when I told her: "Sorry, I did not mean to startle you" and I could discuss with her about why I was there. She continues to startle and scream when she sees me, but does not notice is me and she comes back to herself when she has an attentive look to recognize me. This is only one of the weird medical staff I met there, and they are not institutionlized. This condition can be controled by medication, it is not necessary to be hospitalized.

I have OCD & do not think everyone alive has it. I mean yes maybe to some small degree but people who do not have a chemical imbalance in there brain would have no idea what we go thru. People think it's just something you can just not do. It's not. I don't think the person you know may have OCD sounds more like Paranoiah or however you spell it. I have a differant OCD then the young lady who started this post mine is hard to explain and is not severe but I have had it as far back as I can remember which is Kindergarten.

Oh & not having OCD doesn't mean carefree & worryless. Hardly. People have there normal worries etc. This is quite differant.

I appreciate your comments. I used to stare at handicapped people when I was younger, but when I looked back, i have a sort-of handicap also. It takes a big person to admit that we are not perfect and it takes a bigger person to admit they may have more of a handicap than meets the eye sometimes--thank you again guys!!

I too have what the collective 'they' have come to call OCD. I'm pretty certain I could be labeled with many others as well. I have never been and still do not go with the main-stream-flow. It doesn't bother me like it used to. I've come to be ok with making the discretionary decision to avoid people who have not yet learned that they too aren't 100% perfect when seen through the screen of absolute perfection.
Below is some music I think you might like that I hope will cheer you up. It is Sol Seppy.

I think there are only few people, which we can count in our fingers who have no worries at all and are carefree. I also agree with all others that quite a few people or no people are worriless. I think it is common for humans to have worries. I think one should not keep on thinking about worries. I think most people have tension related to different things in life. I also have tension and worries related to different things. Sometimes I keep on thinking about job related tension or fiance realted things, etc. I think it would be wonderful for us to take our mind on our worries and spend time on different things. One of the way I remove my worries is spending time in the beach and taking chilled chocobars in the beach and playing with sea water.

I've got OCD too. And like you I repeat phrases that I may hear, over and over and over and over and over and over again. I'm an insomniac simply because my OCD does not allow me to sleep. But it's always encouraging to know that you're not alone. Don't let people like that woman get you down. A lot of people seem to think OCD is hilarious, and I've never understood that. An anxiety order that only makes you more frustrated? Fun times.

I just realized that I rewash clothes as one of my habits. My mom just showed me that I have washed the same hoodie 7 times in 3 days. I love to do laundry but, don't realize that I have been washing the same clothes over and over again...hmmmm no wonder I have holes in the butts of my jeans! I also count my steps, and flush the toilet- now- 7 times before even using it. I have caught myself washing dishes over and over again. I have no fears of contamination other than anything that touches the ground, carpet, tile, linoleum, and so on. So why I am washing clothes over and over again is bothering me. i am now back on zoloft and getting ready to try chantix to stop smoking ( i tend to keep tapping the cig that i just put out until i light another one up). Hope it works out!!
