Do you ever have trouble with motor skills?

When you're not drunk or otherwise stupid - like very tired - do you walk into walls and trip on nothing? Do you have trouble with zip lock bags, fight with your blinds and still don't know how to tie your shoes? I do, even when I'm paying attention! My mom used to tell everyone that I started to read at two years old - I devoured all of her books in the fourth grade. Somehow she never mentioned the fact that I still didn't know how to tie my shoes in like third grade and still have trouble with it! I often walk into walls, posts and very wide doorways. And have to think about my left and right. I'd make a terrible waitress - my whole check would go into paying the restaraunt back for dishes! What about you, are you not dexterous? Are you downright clumsy?

Hi klutz! LOL. Oh, yeah, when I'm really incredibly tired I can be the world's biggest klutz going. Yes, walk into things, trip. Also, if I'm really tired I don't like to talk to anyone, because I can sound like a grade A moron. I find I just can't talk on the phone to anyone for instance even when I've just gotten up from sleep, and won't do any phones calls until after I've eaten, gotten dressed and been out for awhile..then I can appear/speak "normal" But even when I'm not tired, some things present a real challenge to me to handle. I know for instance how to be an expert in connecting cable lines to VCRs, DVDs to the TV, so in other words and electronics nerd...ah, but to open a spaghetti jar or bottle or water or put on a new roll of toilet paper in properly, now those are real challenges..hehe

I love that name for some reason - maybe because someone made a million with items of the same name - not me! Yeah me too - although right now I can't open a spaghetti jar because my wrists are TEMPORARILY weakended from my pregnancy. I used to be the go to girl for strength stuffs. I love all of your random info about tiredness and clmsiness. I guess my just mentioning when I said - not from alchol and other stupid making things like tiredness just plain everday clumsiness got you thinking about how worse things can be when tired. You're lucky though, as the topic relates above, I'm like this without being tired.

I didn't have these kinds of problems most of my life, but I was in a bad car accident about 8.5 years ago, and since then, I find I am very accident prone -- mostly small things, but it seems like if there is a way to hurt myself I will find it! I am constantly fumbling, dropping things, bumping -- more like side swiping things. Like I won't usually walk directly into a wall or door, but I will constantly sideswipe it, hitting it with my shoulder, arm, hand, foot, etc, as I go by. It aggravates me no end! The way you describe yourself, reading at age two, and still being unable to tie your shoes -- sounds like a type of learning disability. It seems like learning disabilities are often coupled with high intelligence in other areas, like your reading and comprehension skills. Were you ever evaluated for that or for a physical problem? In my case, I had a pretty severe concussion, and the accident prone-ness and other problems I experience are symptoms of post-concussive syndrome. I am good with left and right -- but I often struggle with zip lock bags, esp the newer style slider lock bags. I think they are closed and so I "open" them, only to find that I actually closed them. Sometimes this process goes on for many tries before I finally get it right!

I do the things you describe -sideswapping. My brother and sister were born with dyslexia and one of my sister's teachers told her and my mom that she'd be lucky to graduate from trade school (she said it as if trade school was the lowest of the low). She graduated Magna Come (I had to spell it wrong for mylot terms) Laude, and now owns her own business helping non-profits thrive in the most expensive city in the states. She picks and chooses her clients and is highly sought after. My brother commands a six figure salary. From what I've read, I think i have dyspraxia to a small degree. I don't drive because I know that I'd get confused. It never interfered with too much so I never got evalated. I like the zip lock bags with blue thing you pull - other wise I can stand there for ten minutes struggling and finally cut it open with scissors. Ruining it. Are you realy a dog shrink - or only for your dogs? Have you heard of ether - the online site that allows those with an area of expertise to have a third party phone number that goes through to their phone at desired times - or as arranged through E-mail. You charge what you want - no charge to you but ether gets a cut. I think AT&T is taking over the phone service part of it Its available in about 22 countries but mostly the states. So if you know dogs - or homework - or bicycles - you can have your own telephone side to your business.I think its pretty cool. Anyway, just a bit of randomeness!

It sounds like your sister's teacher needed some education herself, about learning disorders! A lot of people just don't understand. I have a friend who is very intelligent, very well educated and well read, with a huge vocabulary -- but she will say to me something like this: "will you hand me that, the one for this thingy, you know the thing I mean." LOL no I don't know what she means! Oh, but sit her down to write a paper and she will blow you out of the water! She cannot fold things or put things together properly, but she has two Master's degrees and a principle's certificate, and she ran organizations that worked with special needs kids. It sounds like you, your sister and your brother are all super intelligent! Maybe that teacher was feeling threatened. Hey, thanks! I will check out ether. Yes, I am a real dog shrink -- my customers gave me that nick name years ago, because I work more with behavior problems and why is the dog/cat doing that and what does it need -- sort of like the Dog Whisperer on tv now, fixing scared dogs, aggressive dogs, etc. I used to answer questions a lot of AskMe.com, which was a great website (no pay), but they closed and I have not found anything like that where they pay you and actually have a lot of traffic to their site. thanks for the tip.

Hey! I think you have been spying on me! I do all those things too...maybe we were twins separated at birth? hahahaha! I do have a lot of bumps and bruises all over me for bumping into corners of tables, edges of walls, hitting my funny bone on the edge of tub going in--name it I've clunked it! I do have mild dyslexia, which becomes less mild when I'm under stress. Yes, yes, I admit I am a klutz. I had to laugh when you described the ziploc bag incident because that was so ME! We can form a club--whaddya say??!!

I'm not exactly like that but I do have a tendency to be clumsy while eating. I have dropped so many knives/spoons or pieces of meat, stained so many clothes with sauces, and spilled so many drinks. It's like my brain shuts down while I'm eating! Here's an example: I was having lunch with my girlfriend in a restaurant. As I stood up I accidentally hit my glass of Coke. It spilled all over the table and my pants. And I still had to go to work! So I came to my office looking like I peed myself up. LOL
