I can't say that I ever gave or recieved any weird Christmas gifts, but my father did. I was about 5 or 6 at the time. My brother and I were, as always, up early Christmas morning. As we headed out to the living room where the loot was, we saw through the window a fish tank sitting on the front lawn. A closer inspection revealed that in the fish tank was a baby aligator. I was about 5 years old then and pretty much new that my dad was the ever elusive Santa Claus. What I couldn't figure out was why would my dad, Santa Claus, want us to have such a dangerous pet. Ever try to pet an aligator? Don't!
As it turned out, the aligator was a gift for my father from his prankster friends. A few days after Christmas we all drove out to the Everglades and turned it loose in the swamp.
Maybe not the oddest gift, but I thought it was pretty weird. How about you mylotters?

No dangerous or endangered specie gift for me.I might be imprisoned with that...your story is really weird.Although as children, it would have been something new and a thrilling sight for you and your brother.
What I could think of as an odd gift is a pair of leather shoes to my hubby that doesn't fit him.I had to go back twice to exchange it but with no luck.In the end, I come to fetch him and brought him with me to the shoe store to exchange it himself for the right size.Today I learned my lesson, I always ask him what he likes so it would spare me and himself such trouble!
Thinking of odd gifts...keep it simple, just ask them what they like...ha!ha!ha!
