There are many jobs that require using a headset/earphones like a phone operator. Whether your using it with your phone or listening to music, I think the volume is what you have to worry about. Don't have it too loud, this can cause hearing problems later on. Very often when I am on the bus or train I hear the music blasting from someone's earphones and they are going to regret it in the future. Good luck.

well friend...your assumptions are very true.Too much use of headphones is seriously very much harmful as it affects your eardrums.I personally make it point not to use the headphones at all and i would also advise you the same.
have a nice day.....

I don't think it's the amount of time that makes headphones a dangerous thing to use, I think it's the volume. If headphones are used for a long time on LOW volume, there shouldn't be a problem. In my case I use headphones a lot because I share my space with my husband, and we both like to listen to different music while we are on the computer. I also have a personal CD player that I take with me when I go out for a walk. I don't have the volume too loud, just loud enough that I can enjoy my own music, and still hear what is going on around me.
