I'm annoyed. I want to slap these people. Slap them repeatidly & often. The situation. ( sorry , this gets long ) My family has an outside cat. My allergies prevent him from spending more time inside. A few months back we noticed he had a friend. A small kitten that we think may actually be his son showed up. This kitten was on the road to being ferrel. Whenever he saw somebody he'd shoot into the woods like a lightning bolt. My wife decided we needed to try to tame him. We borrowed a live trap & caught him after a couple days. He was then transfered to a kennel where my wife could work with him. Since the weather has turned chilly my wife brought him into the extra bathroom & he stays sealed up in there. He's come along nicely & is quite affectionate now ( so long as he's in the bathroom, it's his comfort zone ). Unfortunantly the effects on my allergies has built up & we need to find him a permanent home. We posted him on craigs list, freecycle & petfinder hoping someone locally would want him. Now here's the part that really annoys me. We've been getting emails telling us to ship our PET to someone out of state. Its a bloody form letter! What &$*$&*% would want a cat they haven't even seen shiped to them. Hell it could be a demon cat that jumps on your face climbs down your throat & bursts out of your chest like some alien spawn for all they know ( don't worry , that one ran away ). Only an idiot or an animal testing facility would do this & I'm not sending my PET to either. It's too bad I don't have an alien spawn, I'd actually ship THAT to them, They deserve it. Anyone know how to make a mail bomb or where I could find a small swarm of killer bees?

what's wors is they send info on the shipping company they are going to use like I'm just going to give the cat to somone who doesn't even know if it's a dog , cat, rat, or whatever. it's just a "PET" to them.

pet bees, ha! I once petted a bumble bee...when I was a kid...I went to grab a roll of toilet paper and there was a bumble bee in the roll. I felt its' "furry" back on my fingers and the vibration. Luckily I was already on the commode because I sh@# myself.

Depending on how severe your allergies are you can become desensitized to the dander if you give it time.

Their pretty severe. One day my daughter forgot to close the bathroom door & he spent the day roaming the house. When I got home I came inside & immediatly started reacting. Before long I couldn't even breeth & had to go outside while my wife & daughter cleaned vacumed & aired out the house. I can only take him in very small doses or it puts me into sneezy watery eyed fits. An inside cat just isn't possible.

I need a cache of alien spawn, I can think of quite a few people I'd love to send them to. You have an awesome point. Why would people get so interested in your cat? If they really want a cat, why not adopt one closer to home? There are animals in need of homes everywhere, so why would someone want you to ship your pet to them instead of just getting one locally? I really wouldn't want to entrust any animal to someone I couldn't at least meet.

I think thats the whole idea. They want one shipped so your not close enough to actually check up on whats happened to the animal or check them & their home out. Kitty could end up being used for product testing or on someones dinner plate & you never know.

I had to laugh at the killer bees thing I really did, cause that was way to funny. I would feel the same way you did though if some stranger was to just say ok send me the cat and never came to check it out or for me to check them out. People are nuts though. It sucks having pet allergies though doesn't it? I'm not so much allergic to cats as I am kitty litter. I can't change a litter box cause whatever is in kitty litter triggers asthma attacks with me :( Now if you lived in the same state I did and had a dog you wanted to give away I'd be all over it. :) I love dogs, I want a puppy so badly.

Actually they didn't even say to send my cat. They said to send my PET. It was a bloody form letter email. It didn't even matter what kind of animal it was, so BEES... Lets see them open the box when their not expecting that!

Now I'm thinking I'd need to find some way of videotaping it when it happens. There'd be a video of someone setting up the lab table, carefully preparing the insturments, placing the box on the table, opening the sealed lid... BZZZzzzZZZZZzzzzz bees everywhere!!! Stinging them through their lab coats.... Watch them flail about knocking the scoupil off the table & it sticks in their foot. They knock over a shelf of famaldahide jars which break & spread glass all over the floor. They have to crawl through it to get out of the room. The famaldahide gets into everything as the glass cuts their hands & knees & the bees keep stinging in their panic....

ROTFLMAO... I think I'd pee myself laughing if I watched someone open up a box full of bees. Maybe that makes me morbit but I don't care cause I'd find it funny as hell.

Those form letters are from vivisection labs in Japan or China where vivissection labs are very graphic and very violent. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivisection gives a definition of it. I don't want to post it here in case no one wants to know what it means. Very heartbreaking. Japan and the other oriental countries still practice this and consider it normal and humane. I personally would not post any living animal on Craig's list. There was a story not too long ago of a woman who posted a kitten on CL. A man, convicted of animal abuse numerous times, adopted the kitten and set it on fire, killing it. Police found a video of the kitten as it was burning and still photographs of the kitten. The woman found out what happened and was ill when she found out about the kitten. I had a pregnant stray dog show up at my house about a year ago. She was too far along to abort, and as luck had it, she had 10 puppies. We gave away 7 after very extensive interviews and application processes were finished. I checked vet references, made home visits and had personal references that I called. A true pet lover will go through that in order to adopt your pet. A person who just wants a cat or a dog to shut the kids up and then the cat/dog will be dumped in a few months when the kids lose interest will not.

Oh trust me. If anyone closeby does ask for him I'll be checking them out very closely. I was just flabbergasted & annoyed by the form letters! Btw, you didn't say anything about the bees... I figure by the time they get bounced around in shipping they'll be REALLY pissed off by the time they got there.

that's disgusting! vivisection is horrible. Shipping animals is horrible anyways, but a lot of herps are shipped that way same day, at least. Not to mention, if someone just wanted a random kitten/puppy...why wouldn't they just go to their local shelter? I hate to think about an animal shelter in the town of a big college that performs animal experiments being empty. At first glance, an empty animal shelter would be awesome...but then thinking about the fate of the animals...in the name of science. :(
