Hello everyone, I just had my baby girl on Oct 25th, she was born at 8lbs 3oz, now she is 8 weeks old and weighs 11 lbs, she looks like she should, she doesn't look over weight at all, but the doc says, they don't care that she is tall, she's gained too much weight... but she keeps crying because she is hungry... is 11 lbs at 2 months big?

There is nothing wrong with your baby. Keep feeding her when she is hungry. A newborn will not overeat. My youngest was 7lbs 13oz at birth and was almost 10lbs at 1 month old and was probably 11lbs at 2 months old. That sounds pretty normal to me. She is 20 months old now and on the small side (23lbs). My son was over 9lbs when he was born and at 2 months was like 13lbs. He had already outgrown 3-6 month clothes by the time he hit 3 months. He was a big baby but he was never "overweight". He ate when he was hungry and that was it. He was also very tall for his age.

congratulations to you friend for having a good delivery with your baby...yes, she so big, yes, i agree with your doctor that the weight of your baby has a balanced with her height..don't worry of that because that's normal, the babies on their 1yr they really doubled their weight but when they already active their weight is not that heavy..

Thank you so much for your advice! I just spoke to a new doctor, a good one! she said that my baby is in the 95th percentile and isn't overweight, she is just really tall! so everything looks good! THANKFULLY!

Don't worry about it. I just had my sons three month appointment. He's 16 pds! I was so worried. The doctor said he was in the 95 percentile. That made me worried. But then she said he was in the 90 percentile for his height. She said he's fine he's just tall. If he weighed this much and was only in his 50 percentile for height then we should be worried.

theres nothing wrong with your little angel. some babies are just bigger naturally. it jst depends on the child and the mother i think. but if shes hungry definately feed her. all babies are hungry and to not feed her maybe dangerous. id just keep an eye on her, but everything sounds fine

I wouldn't worry too much about her being overweight. If she is hungry, feed her. Babies generally double their birth weight by 5 or 6 months and triple it by 1 year. Feed her when she is hungry, but also be sure that she really is hungry, and not necessarily every time she cries. It can be hard to tell sometimes, but if you have tried other things- hold her change her diaper, and you still think she is hungry, feed her. It is silly to even think about limiting the food intake of such a young baby. They all grow at different rates, she will eventually level off. My son was 10 lbs when he was born, and his doctor has never shown concerns about his size and his weight. Now, at 15 months, he is pretty average.

my 4 month old is only 10 pounds...but she is on the smaller end of the scale as long as babies are eating and healthy, you really shouldn't worry at all...babies all grow at their own pace

shes a new born, Don't even listen to the doctors with this. my sister baby was born 10 pounds at birth and she had been through all this with the doctors since pretty much the day he was born. You can;t not feed the baby. also the weight gain slows down alot when they start crawling and walking. The doctors kept telling my sister that her lil man statically weighed more than 90% of all babies.
