The minimum I have seen recommended for Vista is 1GB of RAM. What speed processor do you have? What size hard drive?
Vista is recommended for use on the newest computers only because it is very taxing on the system.

Could be your processor. The minimum requirement per Windows is 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor, but I know people w/2GB processors that have problems running Vista. I think if you want Vista you need a decent dual core processor for your PC.

I will not buy vista because nice graphic only.I prefer using kubuntu which are free and can have better graphic that vista after your install vista themes.Vista have voted by PC World as rank 1 for The 15 Biggest Tech Disappointments of 2007.It is suck.Check it out as following link.
