After mom and I took my 6 year old cousin to see Santa at the mall and helped her shop for mommy, daddy, and big brother we had to bring her back home and help wrap her presents. After that adventure mom and I hit four food chains in a row until after midnight. I can't even tell you how much money flew out the window just to get all the makings for the ferocious bake off that started this morning. She of course, is going first baking an old fashioned cheesecake, butter cookies and lemon squares. Then I get to bake my cinnamon loaves, ginger cookies, and chocolate tipped cookie fingers..complete with brandy and chopped pecans and turtle cookies. Fun, fun, fun...ugh!

I'm almost ready. I just have to wrap one of my mom's presents. I'm not sure how I'm going to wrap it, and I really wanted to wrap it and not put it in a bag. But I'm definitely in the Christmas spirit. I'm already wishing it wasn't over, and it hasn't even arrived yet! : )

I am baking today...banana bread and pumpkin bread...my kids are bringing the cookies and sweets. I have to make my family Christmas Cards, and then get ready for the big dinner. I am fixing a 25 lb turkey so I have lots of bread drying for sage dressing, will get all of my vegetables and salads put together on Monday morning after putting the turkey in. I will set up my tables and put all of the dishes out on Saturday...so I don't get so pooped on Christmas Eve. We are going to show old home movies when all of my kids and grandkids were really young...should be fun. I have newspaper clippings of everytime one of my family made the news...about 40 articles. Some of the kids were snowmobiling, fishing and doing projects in school..shoveling...playing at the park etc.so that may strike up lots of memories and conversation. I try to have a special activity for each Christmas Eve. One time we played all of the games that I used to have the kids play at their birthday parties with their little friends. The games were pin the tail on the donkey, put the clothespins in the bottle..relay games (boys against the girls) and also the blindfolded game with cotton balls where you try to scoop up as many of the little white things as possible with a small spoon and put them into a small bowl...sometimes they didn't even come close to the pile or the bowl, the one with the most cotton balls got a prize...we laughed until we cried. I have lots of pictures of them having fun with childish games. I guess I am pretty much ready for another fun night with the family.
