Posting to MyLot

I have friends tell me all the time how easy it is to post on MyLot and that they do about ten postings in an hour. I think they are teasing me. I really try to read the discussion I'm answering and reply with something relative to the subject. Then I try to type it with a bit of consideration to spelling, grammar and content. That includes finding a subject and discussion that I'm interested in answering and discussing. I don't mean a one line response either. Once I get all the words in place, then I re-read it to make sure it makes sense and has some value. I know not everyone speaks English well, and some know very little written English, but I know, I can't do ten postings an hour and have them be worth reading. Even if I couldn't write good English, I would try to do the best I could and each time I responded it would be a learning experience. After hearing everyone say they can do 10, I'm feeling really inadequate in the response department. Considering everything I've said, can you truly respond to ten postings an hour with a good response?

Nothing is impossible as they say, ten posts is not really hard most especially for those who are better literarily inclined, these goes well with journalists who are the masters of deadlines & all. At one time when i was "hot" with mylot i did targeted - probably my highest ever - forty responses in under four hours. i could clearly still remember it since i did a short investigation or research of my own for a blog i made about mylot. That was since then, now im in this more for fun, venting of my own, at least as well it trains my english (english is not my first language). If you stay really long here & do some evaluation on others or track other posters here, you will be amazed how do they do it - i was shocked at times - as if some posters here have grown extra limbs from the volume of posts they made. But dont let that get to you, have fun & enjoy first, that would surely bring you along well for the long haul here. Have a nice day.

As I have said before, I really appreciate the responses from people for whom English is not their primary language. I do believe this is a wonderful place for people to express themselves and for those from non-English speaking countries to perfect their skill at English. The point is exactly as you have said, there seem to be many who can produce like they are factory workers using a conveyor belt. I believe there will be times when writing responses will flow faster than others and topics which illicit more emotion than others therefore a higher rate of written expression. Thanks for participating in this discussion, I value your opinion. May you have a wonderful day also.

It is my opinion that you can give adequate responses and do at least 10 an hour. However, English is my primary language. Now if you are writing a really long post and possibly over explaining your answer, it may slow you down a bit. I would not be concerned about how quick or slow you post, but if you answer the discussion/question correctly.

Thanks for the post. I'm chuckling about "answering the discussion/question correctly." The thing I find is that opinions don't really have a right or wrong to them, they are just opinions and subject to change and reconsideration. Obviously, English, Americanized, is my primary language and was my college major, and like you speed so far hasn't been my major concern. I'm afraid my friends are dollar oriented and really could care less about the quality of what they have to say. Maybe they need to reconsider the way they approach MyLot, I'm beginning to believe I'm doing just fine the way I am.

It can be done, once you get started and really get the feel of things here it gets easyer in time. I can do 10 posts an hour and give a good response to the discussions. I think everyone answers in their own way and with what is comfortable with them. In time you will be doing 10 posts or so. Let me just say Welcome to MyLot and I hope that you enjoy your time when here, Happy Posting.

Thanks for your comment. I might get to that level of expertise, but I won't hold my breathe. I appreciate your welcome and so far it has been an enjoyable experience. I really am working for quality not quantity and that maybe the thing that keeps from ten and hour.

I think you can if you are a fast typist and a pretty quick thinker.

I think you can if you answer any old thing in any old way. I've always been a fast thinker, however the answers aren't always thought out. I just think it would be nice to give an intelligent answer that shows you do read the responses to the question before you give yours. I'm not into redundancy and just saying something to be writing, but into making comments that show a little more than a quick pass-by.

Hi,there! I don't think it's that possible to post many responses or discussions in one hour.I somehow agree with your points.Just as what you said,if you are really serious to post things in mylot, then it takes effort and time. I won't post many responses which are not in good quality.I really like this place and wanna share things with many nice mylotters. So I post when I really wanna say sth:) It doesn't matter too much how many we post but how are the things that we post. Thanks for the discussion and have a nice day^_^

I appreciate your response. I don't always find it easy to express my thoughts in a literate manner either. Opinions can be misunderstood so easily, that I really try to word things in order for that not to happen. I'm going to try to watch for everyone who has responded to this thread and hope all of us obtain the results we desire from MyLot.

You've got the right idea! The main thing is that you feel good about your responses. Don't shortcut quality for quantity. By the way, you write very well.

Thanks for your comment and the compliment. I try to show a little education and intelligence when I write, and one of these days I hope to publish a book. I really found it interesting that some of my friends think dollars and speed is the most important item. I'd rather make friends, and enjoy people who think about what they have to say.

I don't think ten postings in an hour is necessarily that difficult. Even when trying to give well thought out responses. That is, if you set the whole hour to doing nothing but mylot and find quality discussions. For me, the biggest obstacle is finding discussions that I'm interested in, and that require responses that are longer than a line, or a word. It seems every time I log in, there are dozens of discussions that basically can only be answered by a yes or no, or some other one word answer. Wading through those "discussions" takes up a lot of time.

I'm glad you found this topic interesting enough to require more than a one word answer. Like you, find the discussions has been my biggest problem. At least I get my feet wet "wading" through and get to see a lot along the way. Thanks for comment.

For me it depends on the topic. Some peak my interest and then only require a short reply others take more. But with that said I know that word count surely must be a part of the algorithm here so perhaps your earning will do a little better than others who knows. Just do your thing and have fun. Welcome aboard

Sounds like you have some problems with the ten and hour concept too. I'm sure we can always improve some way or other on our posts. It is nice to get paid for my opinions, but I really enjoy the inter action between us, the exchange of ideas. Thanks for your comments and I'll keep trying to improve.

I can do ten postings in an hour if thats the only thing that I do but in my case Im only on line when I work and I cant really do the ten postings per hour. Its too diffcult to do it. Others who can post as many as that could be concentrating and I envy them for being able to do that. I am trying to reach the 3000 posts before the year ends and I just hope I will be able to hit it bullseye. have a niceday and happy mylotting!

Thanks for your comment. I think a lot of people use social networking as a diversion from work during work hours. I wouldn't expect you to be able to do ten in one hour. But when you are like me and on the net all the time, well, maybe I just need to try harder.

yes! if i'm responding to topics of my interest i can easily do 10 responses within one hour. I also use firefox browser which runs mylot a touch faster than internet explorer which makes things a bit more easy. Again i feel it depends on person to person and their interests.

lol.......guess I'm going to have to speed up my eye sight. It seems to take me longer to read the responses and see that I'm not repeating four or five other responses verbatim. I guess I'm just too much of a perfectionist to respond that quick....but you know, I seem to be doing pretty good responding to my own discussion. Thanks for the comment.

It is not very difficult to do 10 postings on Mylot if you have really good interest in the subject, you are posting on. However, you must have good typing skills to do this. Another thing is to keep the subject of your new discussion ready when you start posting on Mylot. Although I do feel that every time it will not be easy to do this because you may not get the topic on which you can contribute your views every time and that would make it difficult for you to post. I feel that you should choose your areas of interest more carefully so that you can readily get the new topics for discussion on the subject of your choice and knowledge.

Thanks for your comment. You have a point, I have too many interests. I probably create too many distractions for myself with too many. But there are so many things to see and talk about....lol.
