Just last night, a guy came up with the question as to how much should he post to reach payout this month. I good-naturedly advised him to just enjoy his time here on mylot, post more qality discussions and give quality responses, the money will automatically take care of itself. He then patronisingly replied that we are all here ONLY to earn money here and we should see to it that we get there speedily. So I pointed out some money-making sites to him where he would be able to earn money more speedily without going into the hassles of putting up discussions and responding to others because I felt that those weren't his primary objective. I told him that people come here to responsibly answer others' questions and to make friends with others. This wasn't the place for him. But strangely, the guy started using abusive language, and called me a loser. So my question which goes out to you all is that do you also share my opinion that we should enjoy discussing here with our friends and just let the money take care of itself or do you feel that getting money is your ONLY objective for being here? Do you respond to discussions with the only objective of getting more money or do you sincerely try to give an answer so that the questioner benefits from the response? Please, do speak out. This is my EARNEST request to you all. Thank you.

I am here because I simply love reading all sorts of comments that I received for a discussion that I posted here at myLot. It is even more interesting to know that those responses came from various countries, various age group, various social background, various education background and many more different factors that make us all unique in this world.

Thank you, that's what I would like to know. I simply hate people who are hopelessly money-minded (in other words, narrow-minded) only. That guy is a blotch on mylot. He has no right to abuse others. Do you think mylot can take any action against him?

Clap clap clap, hats off to you and a black star to that dude who said something about being a loser. I agree 100% with you that this site is one of those unique ones where you get decent people to discuss issues of common interests. In this process I have made some friends who I really enjoy replying to. Money is not the only objective though it can be of primary importance to a lot of mylotters, a good chunk I believe. But in this gold rush one shouldn't be posting articles of no use to others, it should have meaning and a benefit oriented approach. Add me pls and rank if found useful.

And also thanks to you dhamrait, for extending your hand of friendship. i think that's what we should all be here for, to make friends from the world over, and helping them out with their queries. In turn, we will also be helped by them, like you all have done to me in this discussion.

I do agree with you completely and I hope you reported the user that attacked you like that. We don't need people like that here. I admit it WAS the thought of earning money that got me to sign up here because I found this site through a non-paying forum that I was losing interest in BUT within one day of being here I was enjoying just posting and making friends so the money no longer mattered. Yes, I've made a decent amount of money here and I can't deny that but what I've "made" in friendships and knowledge has been far greater than any monetary amount.

Thanks foxyfire33, for being so staunchly upon my side. It's people like you who made me feel in this discussion that I hadn't been wrong in my reply to that weird guy. Thanks a lot for backing me. But everything said and done, I haven't reported that guy. I've just ignored him from the time he called me a loser. He isn't worthy of my attention, not even of my malice.

He wasn't worthy of my attention either but he got it anyway, I don't know if it made any difference but I can't sit back and see good people attacked and a good site tarnished by people like him. I have invested the better part of a year here simply because of the commaraderie so I'm not going to let people who resort to name calling ruin it for the rest of us. I've lost a few to many good friends because of people like that.
I don't believe I gave you a proper welcome...Welcome to mylot! I hope you enjoy it here as much as I have. I think you will be a very positive influence and a benefit to the mylot community!

i am here for the friendships and valuable opinions that i recieve from many mylotters.it is great to get objective views from people all over the world,and i hope that i contribute to helping others as well.somedays i love the serious discussions and other days i love the light hearted discussions.it has been a learning curve for me and i am grateful.if i wanted to make extra money i would get a second job,we do not need people like the guy who abused you here,so just ignore him and let him get on with his miserable life lol cheers sue

I endorse your view on this subject matter. By participating in this Forum, I spend my time in an useful manner by learning certain ponts, culture, habbits and this allows me to reach the various parts of the world. The discussions having matured contents,I like the most. As you righty said that the money will automatically take care of it. I took part in a Good discussion.

I'm with you abhi_destar. Anyone who joins myLot just to make money is in for a big surprise. There are a lot of them out there, and you can tell who they are by some of the discussions posted. People can post whatever they want, but I like to tap into interesting dicussions. I do it for fun. Sorry you got slammed by that guy, you must have burst his bubble.

I don't care whether his bubble is burst or not. Usually the bubble of such arrogant people is hard to burst, but as I'm not uncivilized like him, therefore I didn't continue with the discussion. He isn't worthy of my response.

i will be honest with you on this .i dont like to read at all but since ive been on mylot ive have enjoyed reading alot. i started doing it for the money and now i feel i have a purpose not only do i get great advise i have the change to offer my advise and oppinions for a change. its great fun i enjoy being on mylot and i plan on staying on here as long as allowed.the money doesnt seem inportant anymore like you said let it take care of its self. i dont even keep track anymore.

Yes, I do admit that I also came here for the money. I was on Yahoo! Answers before but I changed tracks. I knew I would love responding to people's discussions here just like I did on Yahoo! Answers. As an added benefit, I would also be getting some money out of this. It's beautiful people like you all who make my stay here enjoyable. I don't think that a single black horse will be able to ruin it. Thank you for supporting my belief.
