Haridev, I used to do it when I was a in schools and college, especially when I was doing my maths work or any written home task. My mother used to think that i would not do well due to this habit. But later on when I started to bring good grades, she was convinvced.

I've always listened to face paced music, which back in my school days were bands like metallica, meatloaf, the doors, and so on. Listening to slow paced music tends to make you relax and tired. Good classical music is good, but it must be upbeat. Something that works well nowadays is dance or house music. There are a lot of different types of music out there, but you get my drift.
The main reason I listen to music, is because it is what I call a "din". When I was in college, I would go to my wife's workplace (restaurant), and study at the counter. The din was perfect, and it helped me study. I cannot study in silence; I get bored fast.
I tend to listen to music that has less "meaning" to me. The reason for this is that once you start listening to meaningful music, it starts your memory wandering, thinking of what makes that music so special. For instance I cannot listen to EWF or the Eagles while I study; brings back memories.
Anyway, these are just my thoughts, and I hope they help.

Hi mr_lipira,
cannot tell you, how much I could relate to what you have to say! I just had to have the music played on while I used to study and guess what, like you, it had to be light, fun music for the same reason you have explained!!

I used to listen to classical music when I study or read. Classical music like Bach, Beethoven or Mozart compositions. It helps for the concentration and focus in studying especially the Bach compositions.
