Today I had to take my 16 year old son to the doctor. We had appointment on a specific time, but still had to wait for one hour before we was calld up. He was in a pretty bad shape and tired, got a bit frustrated, He also has ADHD so it did not helped. However, we got what we came for and he soon could go back home to bed. I met a friend with her small daughter. She had ear ace, but the doctor did not looked at her, just said to the mother to give the child a pain killer and if it was not good after a couple of day´s she should come back. I felt with this mother, the girl really had pain, she cried. But as the arrogant doctor did not even wanted to look in the childs ear, I feel it is awful. I mean you do not go to a doctor if it is not bad.
What do you think about it? What should a mother do?. I could not help ether.
Merry Christmas to you all.

i would like to know if the doctor she have been with are specialist on ENT? the way i understand it as you have described hes not only an arrogant doctor but not a good one too! look for another i guess he dont deserved to be one. ..a doctor must always examine or let some tests before giving any prescriptions especially on ears or ADHD?(actually what is that mean?)

The mother of the child were going to report him. She was really upset.
ADHD is a disorder of neurologically problem's. Attention disorder and Hyperactive disorder. The child has problems with focusing with different things in their world. However, they are very smart. They have problems with waiting, hard to sit still. So if you do not feel right, and have ADHD and have to wait longer than you had to do in the beginning that becomes a problem.
thank you for responding, Merry Christmas.

Oh how awful! I know my daughter was in awful pain when she had an ear infection. I can't believe the Dr wouldn't even look in her ears! I think if I had sat waiting for an hour and I would have insisted rather loudly if I had to.
I took my daughter to the hospital one time because she was very sick. The Dr there looked in her nose and then her ears. He told us she had an ear infection and gave us a script and sent us home. Other than taking her temperture he did nothing else.
I recieved a bill from the insurance company stating that we would have to pay a 'non emergency ER fee because an ear infection was not an emergency. I had to dispute that with proof that we went to the Dr. 2 days later because she was still sick and they found she had pneumonia! Had he bothered to do a full exam instead of just looking in her ears he would have found that out! She had to go in the hospital 3 days later because she was so sick.

Well it seems that some doctor´s do not know what they are doing, or are arrogant and neglecting. That is a fact. I was happy that my son did not get this doctor. He got some one els. But I felt this one to had problems with our languishes.
However, he got the medication I wanted so......are getting fit for fight again. Tomorrow is Christmas day in Sweden so.......merry Christmas and thank´s for responding.

I hate going to the doctors office. It is not fair that if you are 15 minutes late that you are bumped to the back of the line but they can be as late as they want! If I was the mother of the child with the ear ache I would have made the doctor look into her ear and if he didn't I would report him to the local medical board.

Yes, he really should have. I am stoned about hearing a doctor telling a mother with a child crying in pain that he will not take a look in the ear before the child have got a pain killer. That is absolutely outrages. I just can not believe this happening in 2007.
thank for responding and have a great Christmas.

I would go to a different doctor. He doesnt really seem to put that much effort into seeing his patients. And the fact that you had to sit there and wait so long makes it even worse. I would definitely look for a new doctor.

In Sweden we do not have the system of that we can get any doctor. We cal in to a care center and get the doctor who is in charge for the day. There were only three doctors this day and you get what you get. We also do not have the insurance system and do not pay for the appointments when we cal in for the kids. You are lucky if you get an appointment the day you cal. We only have emergency after 17:00 when the care center have closed. For other reasons you have to go to another town. It take a hole day to go there.
I know the mother will give the doctor in, we have had problems with the doctors in care center and some have had to leave because of the arrogant and neglecting their patients.
thank you for responding and Merry Christmas

It can be that way. Insurance is a game. Who has an HMO. Who has a PPO. Who stays in network for treatment. Who goes outside of network? What is your office co-pay. Medicines too. Generic or brand name. It has become a numbers game. Its very sad. National healthcare? I'd give it a shot. Other countries do, and without complaint.

We do not pay insurance, we pay taxes. When kids need to go to doctor we do not have to pay for it. Only for the adult. But we only pay a small amount, since the taxes are suppose to pay for the most of the health care in care center. I have realized that we have problems with the doctors that come and goes....in our care center. More than one have had to leave because of neglecting their patients. I believe this mother will report this doctor.

Even if you go to a big hospital where there are sev3eral doctors to see the patients, it is difficult to see a patient at exact time, unless the patient is in the state of emergency. That is because the questions put by the doctor to examine the patient's critical situation and the time the patient takes time to answer properly or improperly and to elicit the information from patient and some minitor tests carried out by doctor has no time limitation. But then they cannot give appointments with long intervals. That way they cannot see 2 or 3 patients in a day.
My father-in-law is a doctor. They used to give a token for each patient and the number is announced and then only a patient can go inside. This is a better system than time-based appointment.

Well, I do know that sometimes things happen and they can not really do something about it. You just have to wait. But at least come and tell the people waiting then. That is friendly service. they do not only provide with health care, they also provide with service, that we can not get from our own knowledge. Any way, my son got what he needed and are now a sleep
Thank you for responding, merry christmas

Well, they do get a salary, but we do not pay for the kids appointment in Sweden, we pay high taxes instead to get free child care in hospitals. My son did get what hi needed and are sleeping since 4 am this afternoon, that is now, 5 hours.
Thank you for responding and merry christmas

The problem is with the appointment setter. They need to quit putting appointments so close together.

I was lucky to get one, I was surprised. I thought I was not getting one, it is hard to get an appointment in the first place. We did have the system you do have in the states, but they changed it for a couple of years ago. Ma bee it´s time to go back...I do not know.
Thank you for responding, merry christmas.
