I am so happy to help my best friend today. She have been suffering of having a cyst on the lower portion of her breast but was so afraid to have a surgical excision thinking it is cancerous.
So, I accompanied her to the clinic today.During the procedure, she was so afraid of the needle and the surgical knife. I was actually teasing her saying, "We NURSES should never be cowards of pain as we deal with patients everyday".But I guess it is easier said than done, like plumbers themselves can't help their own leaking in their pipelines at home huh! So to ease out my friend's anxiety, I offered my help to the surgeon, assisting him.He is a private practitioner and have no nurse assistant, so i volunteered.During the procedure the three of us were just conversing like colleagues and my friend became relaxed.
The minor surgery turn out very successful.I am glad and happy that I encouraged my friend to undergo surgery as the wound is also getting infected. It turned out that it is actually a sebaceous cyst and harmless according to the surgeon. So there was no need for a biopsy of the tissue that was removed.
I am thankful that she is at last operated and I am pretty sure she will do well on her recovery.
What about you folks, in what way have you ever extended help to your friends? All are welcome to relate their stories.

Now that what friendship is all about! I do have a related story that I'd like to share, but still a little too emotional for me right now. Perhaps I'll tackle that another time.
Let me just say that what you did for your friend is the kind of act that defines a friendship. We do these thing for our friends instinctively, because we really care about them. You sensed your friend's fear and anxiety so you took her hand and helped her through it. You are a true friend and she's fortunate to have you by her side.
By the way, I've followed your posts about your sister's cancer and hope she's well on her way to a full recovery.
Happy Holidays!

That was wonderful and great. How about if it is an enemy? Do you still have that compassionate heart to help? It's easy to say we help someone especially if it's our friend. But I think real help is measured when you encounter an enemy that needs your help! Keep helping anyway!!!

Yes, I did that too! Difficult it may seem, but we have to.Unfortunately, I am always the one willing to do things for them but I felt their rejection to my help. There came a point that I need to stop myself of this because they don't appreciate it and just misunderstood me.
Today, I just pray for them. That is more than a help they needed now rather than my actions.I guess forgiveness on their part is difficult, that's why they struggle. That's the best I can do for now.
Peace to you and Happy Holidays!
