Why is orkut so popular in india?

yes i am on orkut.. but somehow i prefer facebook.. :)

I was on Orkut for some days... frankly it bored me!! I have no idea why it is so popular. It is creating a lot of problems too. It is the starting point for so many illegal relationships, and also relationships that won't work coz of our complicated family and tradition in India.

well for indians its like best place to kill time and watch on other's profile , specially the people they know but they dont wanted to talk to them but would like to know who is talking to them and what is running in his life. other reason may be , people get tired of chatting packages and they were in need of some change that will sustain longer and they got this social website as gift.

I think mainly its very user friendly interface. Also we have joined as most of our friends are on orkut. Atleast its the case with me. It is so popular as the scarp book works like chat and all. its just rocks

yea..!! Orkut is very famous coz of its simple and interface..coz the very first social networking i joined was hi5 but its really tough to use..then i joined orkut..initially it bored me too..! but believe me..the best thing about orkut is getting connected..i lost in touch with my childhood frenz but i got them back on orkut after some 3 years..!! In that way..i really love Orkut..and yea..some felt that its not safe n all..its only upto us as how we use and take things..i really love orkut..and one more thing which i want to tell is that ORkut isnt famous in Indai alone but its getting very popular thru out da world..!!

many people in india are fimiliar with orkut than myspace or other.... orkut in orkut millions of indians have logged in.. where they will find their dear and loved ones, where as in myspace it is stil growing it has not gain much popularity.....
