Yahoo Headache!

I just spent an exhausting day-thanks to Yahoo-talking on the phone with various tech support people who were trying to assist me with getting rid of the Norton Security that Yahoo had chosen as their new Anti-virus protection. It had my poor computer doing all kinds of crazy things that really frustrated me. Now they tell me to wait until January 16 to reinstall Norton. Fat chance! I did the most sensible thing I could think of which was to search for a reliable free AV program. I chose one that I have used in the past, and I think I will be sticking with this one. I think that because of the headache and aggravation I(and others) have gone through, maybe Yahoo should give us a month's free service. What do you think?

You poor thing! I haven't had any problems - well not yet anyway - but I think that Yahoo should show some gesture of goodwill your way sweety - hope everything runs smoothly from here on in! xxx

To be honest I really don't have any anti-virus security...that's the beauty of Mac computers, not to say that there aren't potential dangers to Macs, but 99-percent of viruses are geared for PC users only. I have Yahoo too, and they kept sending me emails enticing me to get the Norton Security..well guess what...it's not compatible for Macs anyway, in fact, most of the "freebie" stuff Yahoo offers isn't--same with my internet provider which is Verizon....would send emails for some virus/spyware protection and not compatible with Macs. As far as I know I CAN get a Norton Security thing via Mac website..but alas, not free. As for requesting free service after screwing your computer system..hey, go for it!

I have made my decision, pyewacket, and Norton will not go back on my computer. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me, lol. I did go on Cnet.com, a trusted download site, and downloaded a program that I have used before so that I wouldn't be unprotected.

Don't download Yahoo Norton Anti Virus. It'll take you forever to download it. I have tried it. It is not worthy at all. There is no free lunch in this world. If you want to have an anti virus protection, you should find other programs.

Spoken too late, friendship! I did, and I was very sorry. Now I have finally gotten rid of it and downloaded another program-and, yes, it was free.

Free Service?? You 'pay' for Yahoo??? Please don't say you do. My Norton that came with an Upgrade just sits on my desktop and does nothing. What a pain you're having so many problems with it.

I am otherwise very pleased with the service I get from Yahoo, Ms Tickle, and, yes I do pay for it. Yahoo has the cheapest DSL service in my area, and it works very well for me.

Norton had our old computer doing all kinds of crazy things too until it finally just gave up and quit working. We tried to "crash" it and reboot it but it couldn't even reboot itself. Now we have to start totally from scratch.

I will never use their product again, foxyfire, because it gave me a lot of headaches. I've never had problems like that before.

Norton anti-virus is fake, and no one on the WWW should ever trust it. It is there to use all your computers resources and pretend to be doing something so it could look better than the rest. The number one anti-virus out there is NOD32 Norton paid Yahoo.com it's not much of yahoo's fault as it is Norton's.

Well, am0deadly, Yahoo should shoulder their share of the blame in this fiasco-and to encourage people to reinstall the program next month is unforgivable!

The best is to get a macbook, I really wish I can afford it. But I am open to sponsors and interested mylotters who are willing to donate. LOL. In our office we use yahoo. But we don't rely on it, norton is old and spacious. We do have anti-virus that are not as heavy as norton. We have kaspersky and nod32. These anti-virus are great for us for use at home and here in our office.
