hit and run?

my mother in law's dog died last week due to a hit and run accident with a car.
are there laws regarding hit and run of dogs?unluckily no one got the license plate of the car.
the poor dog died instantly.
the dog was with them for three years already and then dead.
poor dog.

Hi rouwel23! So sorry to learn about your mother in law's dog. I really am not so familiar with laws regarding hit and run cases for animals but I think that the person who hit the dog or animal should pay some kind of amount corresponding to the price of the animal involved. oh that's sad rouwel! i wonder where you are located? if yoiu are living in the philippines, then sadly i don't think there are laws about such accidents. or if that the culprit will have any damages to pay. i am not sure with other countries. if ever it is the responsibility of the owner to make sure that their dog is secured inside their property's perimeter. poor dog. is that the one in the picture?
